Director of IT Infrastructure
Location: Fully remote (greater Denver area or Orlando preferred)
Salary: $165K - $200K base + bonus
Full Time / Direct-Hire
Summary:
The ideal candidate combines solid technical depth with strong client relationship skills.
This role is for a senior technical lead for our client's managed services practice and will serve as the main point of contact for clients during escalations, technology planning, and infrastructure transitions — someone who can build trust, communicate clearly, and get things done. On the delivery side, this leader will own infrastructure strategy and execution across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.
Our client is a technology platform company with a mission-driven focus, serving a large and growing ecosystem of faith-based and nonprofit organizations across the United States. With a portfolio of AI-powered solutions and digital tools, they operate at scale — supporting hundreds of thousands of churches, ministries, and community organizations in their work. The organization is well-capitalized, growth-oriented, and at an inflection point in its infrastructure maturity.
As their footprint has expanded, so has the complexity of the infrastructure supporting it — and so has the demand for a senior technical leader who can engage at the client level, not just internally. This role is being created specifically to close that gap.
Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Strategy & Architecture
- Define and own the multi-year infrastructure roadmap, aligning platform decisions with client needs and company growth objectives.
- Establish architecture standards for cloud, network, security, and endpoint environments across the MSP's managed client base.
- Lead evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies, with a focus on cost optimization, resilience, and scalability.
- Drive the evolution from reactive break-fix delivery toward proactive, outcome-based managed services.
Cloud Platform Management
- Oversee multi-cloud environments across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for internal and client-facing workloads.
- Govern cloud cost management, security posture, landing zone design, and operational governance across all cloud platforms.
- Lead migration and modernization initiatives including lift-and-shift, re-platforming, and cloud-native application transitions.
- Develop and maintain cloud playbooks, runbooks, and governance frameworks that can be consistently delivered across the client portfolio.
Team Leadership & Operations
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of infrastructure engineers, cloud architects, and systems administrators.
- Define performance standards, career paths, and technical training programs to build depth and bench strength on the team.
- Establish and enforce incident management, change management, and capacity planning processes.
- Partner with the SOC, help desk, and project management functions to ensure seamless service delivery across tiers.
Client Engagement & Relationship Leadership
- Own the client-facing technical relationship for key accounts — serving as the primary escalation point, trusted advisor, and long-term infrastructure partner.
- Lead quarterly business reviews (QBRs) and technology roadmap sessions, helping clients connect infrastructure decisions to business outcomes.
- Translate complex technical situations into clear, confident communication for non-technical stakeholders and executive audiences.
- Identify expansion opportunities within existing accounts by understanding client environments deeply and proactively surfacing solutions.
- Collaborate with account management and sales on pre-sales engagements, solution scoping, RFP responses, and onboarding of new clients.
- Set and uphold the standard for client experience across the infrastructure team — ensuring every touchpoint reflects professionalism, responsiveness, and expertise.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of progressive IT infrastructure experience, with at least 4 years in a senior leadership or director-level role.
- Demonstrated experience in an MSP, VAR, or multi-client managed services environment strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of direct client engagement — leading QBRs, managing executive relationships, and serving as a technical trusted advisor.
- Confidence and credibility presenting to C-suite and board-level audiences at client organizations.
- Deep hands-on expertise across multi-cloud platforms: AWS, Microsoft Azure, and GCP.
- Strong command of network architecture, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), identity and access management, and endpoint management.
- Experience leading infrastructure migrations, cloud transformations, and datacenter consolidations.
- Proficiency in ITIL frameworks, change management disciplines, and SLA-driven service delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and retain high-performing technical teams.
- Exceptional communication skills — equally comfortable in engineering design sessions and C-suite briefings.
