These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and DisasterJobs (“disasterjobs.com,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They govern your access to and use of our disaster relief and recovery job board and related Services.
By using the Services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1) Who We Are; Contact

2) Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum working age in your jurisdiction, if higher). If you are under 18, you may use the Services only with parental/guardian consent and oversight. You may use the Services only if you can form a binding contract and are not barred by law.
3) Accounts & Security
Provide accurate information and keep it updated. You’re responsible for your credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized access.
4) Our Role
DisasterJobs is a platform, not an employer, recruiter, staffing agency, background screener, or legal advisor. Job posts, compensation details, company pages, and candidate materials are user-generated or provided by third parties. We do not guarantee job availability, compensation, hiring outcomes, candidate qualifications, or the accuracy of postings. You are responsible for your decisions and for complying with applicable laws.
5) User Content & License
User Content includes resumes, profiles, job posts, company info, messages, reviews, and any materials you submit.
- Your Ownership. You retain ownership of your User Content.
- License to Us. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, modify (for formatting/display), adapt, publish, translate, distribute, publicly perform and display, and otherwise use your User Content to operate, promote, and improve the Services (including emails/feeds/syndication).
- Your Responsibility. You represent you have all rights to submit the content; that it’s accurate and lawful; and that you’ll back it up.
- Feedback. If you send ideas or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use them without restriction or compensation.
6) Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Violate any laws, including anti-discrimination, wage transparency, labor, privacy, export, or sanctions laws;
- Post misleading, deceptive, or unlawful jobs (e.g., fake roles, undisclosed unpaid internships, pyramid schemes);
- Discriminate based on protected characteristics (race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status) or violate EEOC or similar laws;
- Omit required disclosures (e.g., pay ranges/benefits or location where mandated);
- Harass, threaten, dox, or post hateful/violent content, or incite illegal activity;
- Access data without permission; scrape/crawl/bot except as allowed by robots.txt or our written consent;
- Interfere with or attempt to bypass security; introduce malware; reverse engineer;
- Use candidate data for purposes beyond evaluating legitimate roles or similar roles they may reasonably expect; build/sell marketing lists without consent;
- Resell, sublicense, or misuse Services; create competing datasets from our content.
We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend/terminate accounts for violations.
7) Employer & Recruiter Terms
If you post jobs or source candidates:
- Accuracy & Compliance. Post accurate, lawful listings; disclose compensation where required; comply with labor, wage/hour, privacy, and safety laws; honor offers you make.
- Classification. You are solely responsible for proper worker classification and related obligations.
- Candidate Data. Use candidate data only for recruiting related to relevant roles; safeguard it; honor deletion and other legal requests.
- Background Checks. If you conduct them, comply with FCRA and applicable state laws (e.g., notices, authorization, adverse action).
- Safety. Disaster-relief work is hazardous; you are responsible for training, PPE, licensing, insurance, and job-site safety.
- Distribution. We may format/syndicate/promote your postings to increase reach.
8) Candidate Terms
- Provide truthful information and keep your profile current;
- Use employer contact info solely for legitimate job-seeking;
- Verify job legitimacy and safety; report suspicious listings to contact@disasterjobs.com.
9) Plans, Fees, Billing & Refunds
- Fees. Some features require paid postings, subscriptions, or add-ons; prices and features are shown at checkout or in an order form.
- Auto-Renewal. Subscriptions auto-renew for the same term at then-current pricing unless canceled before renewal; cancellation is effective at the end of the current term.
- Trials/Promos. May convert to paid unless canceled before the trial ends.
- Payments/Taxes. Processed by third-party providers; you authorize charges for fees and applicable taxes.
- Refunds. Unless required by law or explicitly stated otherwise, fees are non-refundable and non-cancellable during the paid term (including unused listings or partial periods).
10) Privacy
Your use of the Services is subject to our Privacy Policy (above), which explains how we collect, use, and share information.
11) Third-Party Services
We may link to or integrate with third-party websites, ATS/HR systems, analytics, advertising networks, payment processors, or communications tools. We’re not responsible for third-party content or practices; their terms and privacy policies apply.
12) Intellectual Property
The Services (software, design, text, images, logos, and other materials) are owned by DisasterJobs or its licensors and protected by law. Except for your User Content and rights expressly granted, no license is granted. Do not use our trademarks without permission.
13) DMCA/IP Complaints
Send notices to admin@disasterjobs.com (or legal at contact@disasterjobs.com) including:
- Your contact info;
- Identification of the copyrighted work;
- Identification of the allegedly infringing material (URL);
- A statement of good-faith belief that use is unauthorized;
- A statement under penalty of perjury that the notice is accurate and you are the owner/authorized agent;
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- We may remove content and terminate repeat infringers where appropriate. Counter-notices may be submitted as permitted by 17 U.S.C. §512.
14) Safety & Emergency
The Services are not emergency services. For emergencies, contact local authorities. You are solely responsible for training, PPE, licensing, insurance, and compliance with applicable safety standards and incident-command protocols.
15) Disclaimers
THE SERVICES AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE ACCURATE, AVAILABLE, UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.
16) Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DISASTERJOBS AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND LICENSORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS IN THE AGGREGATE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF USD $100 OR THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO DISASTERJOBS FOR THE SERVICES GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; portions of this section may not apply to you.
17) Indemnification
You will indemnify, defend, and hold harmless DisasterJobs and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Services; (b) your User Content; (c) your violation of these Terms or law; or (d) your interactions with other users.
18) Termination
You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend/terminate access and remove/disable content for any reason, including suspected violations. Sections that by nature should survive (payments, IP, disclaimers, limitations, indemnities, dispute resolution) will survive termination.
19) Changes
We may modify the Services or these Terms at any time. If changes are material, we’ll provide notice (e.g., email or in-product). Changes are effective when posted unless stated otherwise. Continued use means you accept the changes.
20) Governing Law; Disputes
- Governing Law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-laws provisions.
- Arbitration & Class-Action Waiver (U.S.). Except for small-claims court or injunctive relief for IP/security misuse, any dispute will be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its rules. Venue: Asheville, North Carolina (or remote at the arbitrator’s discretion). You and DisasterJobs waive jury trial and class/representative actions.
- Opt-Out. You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of accepting these Terms by emailing admin@disasterjobs.com with subject “Arbitration Opt-Out,” your name, account email, and a statement that you opt out. If you opt out, disputes will be resolved exclusively in state or federal courts located in Buncombe County, North Carolina, and both parties consent to jurisdiction and venue there.
21) Export & International Use
You’re responsible for local law compliance. You may not use the Services if you are in an embargoed country or on a U.S. government restricted list. Comply with U.S. export and sanctions laws.
22) Beta/Preview Features
Some features may be labeled alpha/beta/preview. They’re provided as-is, may change or be discontinued, and may be subject to additional terms.
23) Miscellaneous
- Entire Agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement regarding the Services.
- Severability. If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder remains in effect.
- No Waiver. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them.
- Notices. We may send notices to your account email or in-product. Legal notices may be sent to contact@disasterjobs.com or admin@disasterjobs.com and our mailing address above.
- Force Majeure. We are not liable for delays/failures due to events beyond our reasonable control (e.g., disasters, outages, labor disputes, acts of government).
