What To Expect
Tesla is seeking a highly motivated and deeply process oriented Logistics Analyst to join our growing supply chain team. In the Logistics Analyst role, you will manage critical domestic Just-In-Time suppliers in closed loops that support vehicle production in Fremont and some international shipping operations to other plants and service distribution centers. The ideal candidate has strong problem-solving skills, ability to collaborate cross-functionally and willingness to go the extra mile to make things happen. This role requires perfect coordination with suppliers, carriers and Tesla warehouses/yards to maintain a smooth flow of inbound material and outbound returns to ensure the production line runs around the clock. The individual needs to be comfortable working independently and making sound decisions in short notice.
What You'll Do
Contribute to a worldwide logistics organization by standardizing processes and establishing SOPs, which requires negotiation and alignment with suppliers and transportation companies, as well as internal teams for optimal order quantity and frequencyMonitor fleet and assign pick-ups based on driver locations, understanding how the dedicated network works and driving improvements to achieve efficiencies related to cost reduction and less resources utilizedCoordinate and direct local milk runs with internal drivers, dedicated external fleets or partners, identifying opportunities to reduce cost by consolidating material from different routes into oneMaintain close communication with carriers and report incidents, and maintain yard reporting and tracking to ensure no congestion impacts the production line and that vendors get returnable packaging back in a timely fashion to support subsequent production shipmentsNegotiate spot and transactional business with suppliers and monitor performance in collaboration with procurement while providing input, such as volume forecast, carrier scorecard, customer service performance, to start RFQ/RFP processes in partnership with procurementIssue statistical or detailed reporting for stakeholders as requested, using SQL to retrieve data from the backend and working with BI to develop dashboards as requiredProcess and correct miscellaneous accounting issues to ensure timely payment to carriers and coordinate most cost-effective means to import/export goods within expected requirements while providing all required documentation (Letter of credit, Ocean Bill of Lading, Service Report Log, etc.) for import and export functions
What You'll Bring
Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability3-5 years of experience in high-volume manufacturing logistics, supply chain or related fieldKnowledge of freight forwarding terms and standards and IncotermsProven record of successfully implementing process improvement initiatives, including cost reduction and operational efficiency gainsKnowledge of ERP systems, TMS included, and ability to identify gaps and work with the systems teams and leaders to introduce new functionalities that optimizes the processProblem solving frameworks that set the candidate and team for successKnowledge of SQL and Tableau (preferred)
