Senior Project Manager – Agile Project Management Office
Senior Project Manager will play a pivotal role in leading and delivering IT projects within the Agile Project Management Office (APMO) that serves the higher education sector. This position focuses on managing complex projects using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies to drive innovation and operational excellence across academic and administrative domains. The Senior Project Manager will partner with stakeholders to align project objectives with institutional goals while fostering a culture of agility, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
This role will be leading a workstream within the organization's implementation of our Enterprise Data & AI Platform. We are specifically seeking candidates with experience managing implementations of Enterprise Data Lakehouse and Business Intelligence technologies.
Responsibilities
Agile Project Leadership:
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of IT projects, leveraging both Waterfall and Agile frameworks such as Scrum or SAFe.
- Facilitate the definition of project scope, objectives, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Identify and manage project risks, dependencies, and impediments.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure project and team performance.
- Provide regular status updates and deliver project insights to senior leadership.
Team Collaboration
- Serve as a servant-leader to cross-functional Agile teams, enabling them to achieve their goals effectively.
- Foster a collaborative environment that emphasizes ownership, accountability, and transparency.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary liaison between the Agile PMO, business units, and stakeholders.
- Maintain clear and open communication regarding project progress, risks, and outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (PMP)
- 7+ years of project/program management, including large cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience with modernization, digital transformation, or student lifecycle/ed-tech projects.
- 2+ years of recent experience managing Enterprise Data Lakehouse and/or Business Intelligence application implementations; experience with Databricks and Tableau Cloud is preferred
- Skilled in Agile and traditional project management.
- Strong vendor, budget, and risk management experience.
- Proficiency with Azure DevOps, MS Project, SharePoint, or similar tools.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred: PMP or similar certification
Desired Previous Project Experience
- Enterprise Lakehouse Implementation: Enterprise implementation of a Databricks-powered Lakehouse to enable trusted, scalable data products and business continuity.
- Legacy Data Warehouse Cutover & Decommissioning: Cutover or decommissioning of a legacy data warehouse via parallel runs, reconciliation, and staged sunset.
- ERP Data Ingestion and Modeling: Ingestion and modeling from enterprise ERP systems such as PeopleSoft, Salesforce, Workday and/or Oracle.
- External Data Delivery to external Consumers: Delivery of enterprise data to external vendors, partners, and systems with hardened interfaces and SLAs.
- Data & AI Governance: Data and AI governance implementing fine-grained, policy-driven access controls.
