The Opportunity
We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to ensure that all materials and products from external suppliers meet the company’s rigorous quality standards, safety requirements, and regulatory compliance.
This role is critical for supporting supplier performance, conducting audits, resolving non-conformances, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall product quality. The SQE will report to the VP of Quality and partner with cross-functional teams including Purchasing, Engineering, and Manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct supplier audits, assessments, and qualifications (on-site or remote)
- Develop and maintain quality plans, inspection procedures, and documentation
- Manage Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) and resolve quality non-conformances
- Lead root cause investigations using tools such as FMEA, 5 Whys, and Fishbone diagrams
- Monitor supplier performance metrics, analyze quality data, and track KPIs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve supplier issues and support NPI (New Product Introduction)
- Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance supplier quality and efficiency
- Assist in developing training materials for quality assurance and compliance staff
- Ensure compliance with ISO, AS9100, or other relevant quality standards
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer or similar role in manufacturing
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and manufacturing processes
- Experience with supplier auditing and audit report preparation
- ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO 13485 internal auditor certification preferred
- Proficiency in root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone), FMEA, SPC, Pareto, and GD&T
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with suppliers and internal teams
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Quality, or related discipline)
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively
