Material Handler Job Description
This a temp-to-hire position with the potential to convert to a permanent role based on established requirements being met.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now and in the future. The company does not offer visa sponsorship or transfer of visas for this position now or in the future.
The Material Handler will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials within the manufacturing facility, primarily using a sit-down forklift. The Material Handler will ensure timely delivery of materials to production lines and proper storage of finished goods and raw materials to help maintain an effective and efficient flow of production lines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, reach truck, etc., as applicable) to move, load, unload, and stack materials throughout the facility.
• Perform daily pre-shift forklift inspections and report any maintenance issues.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and traffic regulations while operating forklifts.
• Receive and verify incoming shipments against packing slips and purchase orders.
• Store materials in designated warehouse locations, ensuring proper labeling and organization.
• Transport raw materials and components to production areas as needed.
• Move finished goods from production lines to storage or shipping areas.
• Load and unload trucks for incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Maintain accurate inventory records through proper documentation and scanning (if applicable).
• Wrap, and band pallets as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment.
• Use PDA to request/send materials to specific work areas.
• Open boxes with materials to sort materials and transfer to designated area.
• Manage the solid waste (boxes, plastic wrap, foam, etc.) disposal
• Assist with general warehouse duties, such as sweeping, organizing, and removing debris.
• Identify and report any safety hazards or maintenance issues.
• Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Participate in safety training and meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 year’s or more experience operating forklifts in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
• Ability to read and understand packing slips, shipping documents, and inventory records.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.).
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Good communication skills.
• Experience with inventory management systems.
• Knowledge of warehouse safety regulations.
• Prior forklift certification.
