Job Summary
The Vice President, Assistant Chief Information Officer (ACIO) provides leadership and operational oversight for assigned Information Technology domains across the enterprise. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this role partners closely with clinical, operational, and corporate leaders to ensure technology strategies are executed effectively, systems are reliable and secure, and IT services enable clinical excellence, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and business growth. The ACIO translates enterprise IT strategy into actionable initiatives, oversees major programs and portfolios, and ensures consistent delivery of technology services across facilities and business units. This role serves as a key member of the IT executive leadership team and acts as a strategic advisor and operational extension of the CIO.
Essential Functions
- Supports the CIO in developing and executing enterprise IT strategy, digital transformation initiatives, and long-term technology roadmaps
- Translates strategic priorities into executable programs, operational plans, and performance objectives
- Acts as a trusted advisor to executive and senior leaders on technology capabilities, risks, and opportunities
- Provides executive oversight for assigned IT functions (e.g., applications, infrastructure, clinical systems, cybersecurity, data/analytics, or service delivery), ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance
- Establishes and monitors service delivery standards, KPIs, and SLAs across enterprise IT operations
- Ensures technology solutions support patient safety, clinical quality, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness
- Partners with cybersecurity, compliance, and risk management leaders to ensure appropriate controls, security posture, and business continuity planning
- Supports enterprise governance processes related to technology investment prioritization, architecture standards, and vendor management
- Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations, privacy standards, and internal policies
- Assists in development and management of enterprise IT budgets, capital planning, and cost-optimization initiatives
- Oversees portfolio management for major IT initiatives to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
- Evaluates vendor performance and supports contract negotiations and strategic sourcing decisions
- Leads, mentors, and develops senior IT leaders and high-potential talent across assigned functions
- Promotes a culture of accountability, collaboration, service excellence, and continuous improvement
- Drives change management and communication strategies to support enterprise initiatives
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations
- Strong understanding of healthcare information systems, clinical workflows, and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated ability to align technology strategy with business and clinical objectives
- Executive-level communication, influence, and stakeholder management skills
- Financial acumen with experience managing large operating and capital budgets
- Proven change-management and organizational leadership capabilities
- Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on operational oversight
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field (required)
- Master’s Degree in a related field (preferred)
Licenses/Certifications
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Information Technology, including senior-level responsibility within a large, complex, multi-site organization (required)
- Prior Experience that demonstrates leading enterprise-scale IT operations, major system implementations, or digital transformation initiatives. (required)
- Prior Experience in the healthcare industry (preferred)
