Quality Engineer – Manufacturing
The Quality Engineer at OCTA Inc. plays a critical role in ensuring that all manufactured components meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards. This position supports production, engineering, and customer-facing teams to maintain robust quality systems, drive continuous improvement, and ensure reliable delivery to both large and small OEM customers. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment with diverse product lines. Key Responsibilities
Quality Systems & Compliance
- Maintain and improve the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001 or other applicable standards.
- Develop, update, and audit quality procedures, work instructions, and control plans.
- Lead internal audits and support external audits from customers and certification bodies.
Production & Process Support
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure processes are capable, stable, and documented.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Support new product introductions (NPI) by developing PPAP documentation, FMEAs, and process validation plans.
- Monitor key process indicators and drive improvements to reduce scrap, rework, and variation.
- Draft Work Instructions, Routers, Inspection Sheets
- Review and approve quality documentation.
Customer & Supplier Interface
- Serve as a primary technical contact for OEM customers regarding quality issues, specifications, and performance expectations.
- Manage customer complaints, perform failure analysis, and communicate findings professionally and promptly.
- Work with suppliers to resolve quality concerns, improve incoming material quality, and maintain supplier scorecards.
Inspection & Testing
- Develop inspection methods, sampling plans, and measurement techniques for new and existing products.
- Train inspectors and production staff on measurement tools, quality standards, and defect recognition.
- Utilize metrology tools such as calipers, micrometers, CMMs, and optical measurement systems.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead or participate in Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen initiatives to improve efficiency and product quality.
- Analyze data trends to identify opportunities for process optimization.
- Champion a culture of quality throughout the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field) preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 2–5+ years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably supplying OEMs.
- Understanding of GD&T, statistical process control (SPC), and root cause analysis tools (5 Why, Fishbone, DMAIC).
- Experience with PPAP, FMEA, control plans, and other APQP tools.
- Proficiency with measurement equipment and metrology principles.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross‑functionally.
- Certifications such as CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt, or similar are a plus.
