The Director of Transportation is responsible for driving regional financial performance, operational excellence, and strategic growth, while consistently exceeding customer expectations. The position will also focus on leading, developing, and coaching a team of Transportation Managers across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive profitability across dedicated transportation operations through effective planning, resource utilization, and execution
- Deliver high levels of customer satisfaction by providing reliable service and innovative, efficient logistics solutions
- Identify and pursue growth opportunities across both existing and new business channels, including third-party revenue streams
- Champion a strong safety culture, prioritizing reduction in accidents and injuries across all operations
- Oversee administrative functions, reporting, and performance metrics for both internal leadership and external stakeholders
- Lead, coach, and develop team members by fostering a positive, accountable, and performance-driven work environment
- Build and maintain strong cross-functional and customer relationships
Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience with strong interpersonal and people management skills, including coaching, performance management, and talent development
- 10+ years of experience within transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Strong business acumen with experience managing budgets and financial performance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Working knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations and Hours-of-Service requirements
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of an organization
- Ability to travel 50–75%, including extended travel for start-ups or special projects
