MDA Overview:
At MDA, we believe our biggest asset is our combination of different backgrounds, cultures, and disciplines united to form one high-performing team. By bringing together people from different backgrounds, perspectives, and generations, we ensure that we all have access to the opportunities, relationships, and resources necessary to learn, grow and thrive. What we do starts with our people and the neuromuscular disease community we serve. As America’s largest voluntary health organization covering research, healthcare, and advocacy for people with neuromuscular diseases, MDA is leading the way in improving the quality of life for those living with muscular dystrophy, ALS, spinal muscular atrophy, and dozens of related disorders – many first discovered and diagnosed by MDA supported scientists and clinicians.
Position Overview:
The Vice President of Technology leads the evolution of MDA’s technology and data capabilities to better support its mission, scale its programs, and improve how work gets done across the organization.
MDA operates across a broad set of activities, including fundraising, research funding, care support, community engagement and advocacy. Each of these areas depends on strong systems, reliable data, and effective coordination across teams. This role is responsible for strengthening and connecting these capabilities so that the organization can operate with greater clarity, speed, and impact.
The Vice President serves as a close partner to business leaders, working across fundraising, finance, research, and patient services to understand priorities, improve workflows, and ensure that technology supports real operational needs. The role focuses on enabling teams to work more effectively by improving system usability, increasing data visibility, and reducing reliance on manual processes.
This role also requires a strong technical foundation, including a working understanding of enterprise application architecture, system integrations, and data flows across platforms. The Vice President must be able to engage deeply with systems design decisions, guide architectural tradeoffs, and ensure that technology choices support long-term scalability and maintainability. This role partners with leadership to leverage technology for innovation and strategic impact and stays versed in emerging trends to drive organizational effectiveness and mission delivery. It is a hands-on leadership role that combines strategy, execution, and collaboration.
