Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer supports manufacturing operations by designing, developing, and improving equipment, tooling, and mechanical systems. This role focuses on enhancing production efficiency, product quality, and safety within injection molding and assembly processes. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, drive continuous improvement, and implement innovative solutions aligned with precision manufacturing standards.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes, mechanical components, tooling, fixtures, and equipment for injection molding and assembly operations.
Support new product introductions (NPI) and equipment validation activities, including IQ/OQ/PQ documentation as required.
Provide technical support to troubleshoot mechanical, tooling, or automation issues on the production floor.
Conduct root cause analysis and lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for process or mechanical failures.
Create and maintain accurate mechanical drawings, 3D models, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using CAD software (preferably SolidWorks).
Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime, improve cycle time, and enhance product quality.
Collaborate with tooling engineers and external vendors on mold maintenance, repairs, and modifications.
Participate in CAPEX projects including equipment specification, vendor selection, procurement, and installation oversight.
Ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements such as ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR Part 820.
Mentor or support junior engineers and technicians on technical tasks and best practices.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
4–7 years of experience in plastics manufacturing, injection molding, or medical device production.
Proficiency in CAD design software (SolidWorks preferred).
Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
Proven analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
Knowledge of tooling systems, automation, and mechanical integration.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
