Position Summary
The Industrial Engineer is responsible for designing, analyzing, and improving manufacturing systems and workflows across Daedalus Industrial's operations, with a primary focus on control panel manufacturing and assembly processes. This role will focus on improving safety and first pass quality, increasing production efficiency, reducing waste, improving material flow, enhancing labor utilization, and supporting scalable growth in a custom manufacturing environment.
This position requires strong experience in manufacturing process development, lean methodologies, and ERP-integrated production systems. The ideal candidate is analytical, systems-oriented, and comfortable working both on the shop floor and in data-driven environments.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Process Development
- Design and implement standardized manufacturing processes for high volume assembly and sub-assembly processes.
- Create and refine work instructions, production standards, and routing structures within ERP systems.
- Optimize kitting, material flow, and shop floor layout for efficiency.
- Develop processes for integration of current automation into existing and future manufacturing processes.
- Lead discovery and selection process for new automation implementations to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
- Provide design review and feedback to engineering teams to improve build efficiency, material flow, and assembly time.
Lean & Continuous Improvement
- Lead continuous improvement and training initiatives to improve existing manufactured products and services.
- Lead lean initiatives including 5S, value stream mapping, waste reduction, and cycle time analysis.
- Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies through data collection and time studies.
- Develop measurable KPIs to monitor production performance and labor productivity.
- Implement corrective actions and process improvements based on data analysis.
Capacity Planning & Labor Optimization
- Analyze labor utilization and recommend improvements to manpower allocation.
- Support production scheduling alignment with demand forecasting.
- Partner with leadership to establish realistic production targets and throughput models.
- Develop and maintain standard labor models for panel assembly and related manufacturing processes.
ERP & Systems Integration
- Collaborate with Operations and IT to optimize ERP workflows (e.g., JobScope or similar systems).
- Improve order entry, routing logic, and job tracking systems
- Ensure accurate BOM structures and manufacturing documentation support efficient production.
- Support digital manufacturing initiatives such as production dashboards, performance analytics, and real-time shop floor data visibility.
Quality & Compliance Integration
- Align process improvements with UL 508A, NEC, OSHA, and internal quality standards.
- Support quality assurance initiatives through improved process controls.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Procurement, Panel Shop Leadership, and Quality teams.
- Provide process documentation and training support to supervisors and technicians.
- Support implementation of new product introductions into manufacturing.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in manufacturing process development.
- Experience in custom manufacturing or electrical panel production is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success implementing lean manufacturing initiatives.
Technical Skills
- Strong experience with process mapping, time studies, and workflow optimization.
- Experience working within ERP/MRP systems.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, etc.).
- Understanding of BOM structures, routings, and production scheduling systems.
Core Competencies

- Comfortable working on the shop floor and engaging with technicians.
- Strong communication skills - able to translate data into actionable improvements.
- Self-starter capable of driving projects independently.
