As the Electrical General Foreman, you will play a vital role in upholding these values while overseeing the electrical field operations on commercial, utility and industrial projects. This position is responsible for managing crews, coordinating daily work activities, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring projects are completed on time and to our high quality expectations. Your responsibilities will include, schedules, and resources, as well as preparing accurate and timely change orders. You will work closely with our team to secure permits, schedule inspections, and maintain compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA, and local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements.
In this role, you will also review blueprints, interpret project specifications, and ensure that all documentation is accurate and submitted on time. Primary Responsibilities:
Construction
- Provide project leadership and oversee construction project(s) from beginning to end
- Manage timeline and manpower expectations to ensure profitability on project
- Determine the necessary equipment, materials, and manpower needed
- Keep track of inventory, tools, and equipment
- Ensure supplies and equipment are ordered and delivered according to schedule
- Assist with client and design team management/relationship development
- Develop, manage, coordinate construction schedule
- Assist in project strategy and implementation
- Coordinate with engineering services and other internal departments
- Develop Project Implementation Plans, as required by the client and the Company, including construction operations plans such as: Activity Hazard Analysis, Risk Management Plans, Safety Plan, etc.
- Work with engineers and architects, as needed
- Keep track of an inventory of equipment and materials.
- Obtain appropriate permits and licenses from authorities for construction sites
During Construction
- Accurately coding purchases against schedule of value line items, managing probability on assigned projects, and working with the Finance department to ensure billing is correct
- Attend job-specific meetings and coordinate with general contractors and other subcontractors
- Influence and coach team performance in project execution and customer interactions
- Prepare reports regarding job status and resolve any problems that may arise
- Create vision and communicate priorities to team
- Communicate quality standards and hold team accountable to them, per the NEC and NFPA
- Communicate and hold team accountable to strict safety standards, per OSHA standards
- Organize project schedules, labor schedules, and delivery schedules
- Manage/Communicate change orders per company policies
- Act as liaison between President and CEO and Superintendents
Post Construction:
- Collate and timely deliver all necessary close-out documentation to Project Manager.
- Ensure timely commissioning and end-user training
- Ensure smooth and cost-efficient demobilization
Estimating Responsibilities:
- Analyze required documents, blueprints, and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project to prepare material and cost estimates for change
- Engage and communicate with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and operations to create a positive experience
Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ electrical/technical knowledge
- 5+ years management experience
- Some Travel may be required
- Very high attention to detail and creative problem solver
- Experience managing full billing cycle with customers, understands billing terminology
- Experience with eSub and other project management/estimating software
- Confident user of O365, Excel, Word, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and hold team accountable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of team dynamics and ability to work with different personalities and communication styles
- High emotional intelligence and leadership skills, such as effective communication, decision making, conflict resolution, motivation and inspiration of team, adaptability, and delegation
- Working knowledge of NFPA standards, OSHA standards, and NEC standards (2008, 2017)
