Position Overview
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to ensure product and process quality throughout the lifecycle of thermal management components for the automotive industry. This role is based on-site in Houston, TX and plays a key part in strengthening our quality systems, supporting customer requirements, and driving continuous improvement aligned with IATF 16949 and related standards.
The Quality Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, and Customer-facing teams) to maintain high quality performance from new product development through mass production.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Planning (New Product Development)
- Support quality planning activities during new product development, including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and related deliverables
- Ensure quality requirements are clearly defined and implemented to meet customer and industry standards
Production Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and analyze quality issues during production and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Use quality tools and data analysis to improve process capability and product consistency
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using statistical methods and tools (SPC, MSA, etc.)
Customer Quality & Problem Solving
- Handle customer complaints and organize structured problem-solving activities such as 8D and 5 Why analysis
- Develop effective improvement plans, track implementation progress, and ensure closure with sustainable results
- Communicate status, risks, and corrective actions clearly with internal stakeholders as needed
Supplier Quality Management
- Support supplier quality management activities, including supplier audits, incoming inspection standards, and supplier performance evaluation
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve supplier-related quality issues and improve overall quality performance
Documentation & Audit Support
- Prepare and maintain quality documentation (inspection work instructions, quality reports, inspection standards, etc.)
- Assist with internal and external audits, including IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer audits, and support follow-up actions
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials, Thermal Engineering, Quality, or related engineering fields
Professional Experience
- Experience in quality engineering or quality management within automotive components or manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with thermal management products (e.g., radiators, condensers, hoses, valves) is a plus
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of quality management systems and tools such as IATF 16949, ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently drive issue resolution
- Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Language
- Good command of English (written and spoken) to communicate with customers and suppliers, Mandarin Chinese and/or Spanish is a plus
