Senior Estimator/Project Manager
Company Description:
Tallmadge, OH - J. D. Williamson Construction Co., Inc. is a small to mid-size heavy highway company and has been building bridges primarily in Northeast Ohio since 1969 ranging in size from $1 million to $25 million dollars. We primarily do public work with ODOT being our main customer.
Position Description:
The Senior Estimator/Project Manager will evaluate bid drawings and specifications to prepare a bid package. Preparation to include, but not limited to jobsite visits, attending pre-bid meetings, material take-offs, obtaining multiple subcontractor and supplier quotes, estimating production, equipment and labor costs. Perform post-bid analysis when numbers are available and prepare a schedule to submit and revise as requested.
Work closely with field supervisors to see the successfully bid project through to completion including specification and drawing compliance, schedules, subcontract negotiation, purchase orders, project budget/hours, RFI’s, change orders, force accounts & dispute resolution. Assist with various submittals such as demolition and erection plans and submit for approval. Attend progress meetings and obtain regular estimates from owners and verify accuracy. Close out the project once complete by doing final quantities, verifying payments are made and obtaining subcontractor sign offs.
Recommended Qualifications
- Experience with bridges, concrete, earthwork, piling and traffic control.
- Knowledge of the bidding process including performing take-offs, obtaining material/subcontractor quotes, estimating labor & equipment costs, & preparing bids/estimates.
- Demonstrated history of working with public entities including ODOT.
- Strong knowledge of the ODOT Construction and Material Specifications (C&MS).
- Capable of multi-tasking, managing deadlines, resolving complex issues & maintaining customer and vendor relationships.
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients regarding project status, targeted completion dates, billing inquiries and unforeseen issues.
- Ability to perform closeout of projects.
- Strong organizational, documentation, computer and communication skills.
- General office knowledge with the ability to work both individually and as part of a team.
Minimum Qualifications:
An Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering (or related field) and demonstrated 5+ years job experience is required. Ideal candidate is proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, Foundation, HCSS and P6.
