Team Overview
Gridware’s Real-Time Operations team is the first line of defense in monitoring the power grid for critical events. The team operates 24/7 to ensure the reliability of our expanding fleet of monitoring devices, rapidly detecting and classifying anomalies, and reporting critical events to customers. By leveraging analytics we continuously refine workflows, optimize decision-making, and enhance operational efficiency to scale efficiently. The team plays a vital role in Gridware’s mission to create a safer, more resilient power grid.
Role Description
The Analyst plays a critical role in real-time grid monitoring by ensuring timely detection, classification, and reporting of anomalies and critical grid events. Early in the role, the Analyst will focus on developing operational intuition by mastering standard operating procedures and understanding device and grid behavior. As they gain experience, they will apply their data analysis skills to identify workflow inefficiencies, evaluate event detection performance, and support the development of automated classification.
Responsibilities - Monitor real-time data streams from the fleet, investigate grid events, and report critical incidents to customers with speed and accuracy
- Train in real-time operations procedures and participate in on-call shifts
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent and accurate classification of grid events
- Collaborate closely with Remote Operators and Senior Analysts to ensure operational readiness
Analytics & Process Improvement- Analyze classification accuracy, incident patterns, and workflow performance to identify operational bottlenecks
- Apply time-series analysis and statistical techniques to validate and understand event behavior
- Partner with Product and Engineering to propose and validate improvements to detection workflows and automation
- Build dashboards and develop metrics that improve operator visibility and decision-making
Required Skills - 2+ years of experience in analytical roles (professional work, internships, or academic research)
- 1+ years of using Python or R for data analysis
- Proficiency in SQL for querying and analyzing large datasets
- Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, or related analytical field
Bonus Skills - Experience working in real-time operations and fast-paced environments
- Experience in grid management, energy systems, clean tech, or climate tech
- Experience in time-series analysis, especially applied to sensor data
- Familiarity with real-time monitoring tools (Grafana, Splunk, Kibana)
- Experience with dashboarding tooling (Tableau, Looker, Power BI)
- Experience with Databricks and understanding data science workflows, with a focus on exploratory analysis and feature engineering
