The Lead Technician is responsible for overseeing field operations on mitigation and restoration job sites. This position ensures work is completed to industry standards, job scopes are followed, and that the team is working safely, efficiently, and professionally. The Lead Technician acts as a key point of contact between field crews, project managers, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and assist field technicians on mitigation, remediation, and cleaning jobs.
- Execute work in accordance with IICRC standards, project scope, and Sierra James Construction protocols.
- Set up, monitor, and maintain equipment such as air movers, dehumidifiers, HEPA vacuums, and air scrubbers.
- Conduct moisture readings and document progress using Chronicle or other company systems.
- Communicate clearly with customers, project managers, and insurance adjusters when necessary.
- Ensure daily documentation is complete, including photos, notes, equipment logs, and readings.
- Train and mentor junior technicians on jobsite conduct, safety, and technical procedures.
- Ensure safe working environments by enforcing OSHA and company safety policies.
- Transport materials and equipment to and from job sites.
- Respond to after-hours or emergency calls on a rotating basis.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in mitigation/restoration industry.
- IICRC certifications (WRT required; ASD/AMRT preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of water, mold, and fire restoration processes.
- Ability to lead a team and manage jobsite logistics.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Experience using Chronicle or similar project documentation platforms.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs., work in confined spaces, pass respirator physical and fit test, and wear PPE as required.
