WHAT WE DO
InLog International is building a next-generation B2B trade platform connecting US suppliers with international business customers in Asia-Pacific and beyond. Our initial book of business is bulk agricultural commodity exports–including soybeans and other commodities–moving at scale from the US to international markets. We are backed by multi-year contracts and growing quickly. The business will evolve as we expand into new verticals and trade lanes. This is a ground-floor opportunity to build something that does not yet exist.
WHAT YOU DO
We are looking for an experienced logistics leader to build InLog's freight forwarding operation from scratch. This is an executive-level, high-visibility role on our founding US team. You will own carrier relationships, ocean export operations, trade compliance, systems, and team. None of it exists yet. You are building it.
Key Responsibilities
- Ocean Freight & Carrier Operations: Own and manage carrier relationships, negotiate ocean freight rates, and execute NVOCC operations. Serve as InLog's in-house expert on ocean export execution.
- Bulk & Commodity Logistics: Oversee logistics for bulk agricultural commodity exports, including bulk terminal coordination and vessel scheduling. Build the flexibility to adapt as product mix and trade lanes evolve.
- Trade Compliance & Documentation: Own all export documentation, customs filings, and regulatory requirements. Manage USDA export compliance and phytosanitary documentation as required by cargo type and destination market.
- Vendor & Partner Relations: Identify, onboard, and manage relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, ports, customs brokers, and logistics partners. You are establishing these from scratch.
- Systems & Process Architecture: Select and implement logistics management technology (TMS, FMS, or equivalent) suited to our cargo type and scale. Build the processes before they are needed.
- Team Building: Define, hire, onboard, and lead your logistics team as volume and complexity grow.
- Cross-functional Partnership: Work closely with the Head of Global Sourcing, your peer who owns supply contracts and buyer relationships. Advise leadership on logistics structure, build-vs-outsource decisions, and operational readiness as new verticals and trade lanes are added.
WHAT YOU'VE DONE
- Built or led a freight forwarding or logistics operation from the ground up. You know what it takes to stand a function up from nothing, not just run one that already exists.
- Ocean freight is your core competency. You have carrier relationships, NVOCC knowledge, and hands-on experience with ocean export documentation and execution.
- Experience with bulk, breakbulk, or non-containerized cargo - or a demonstrated track record of operating effectively outside retail/container logistics.
- Solid grounding in international trade compliance: export documentation, customs, and ideally agricultural commodity logistics.
- Experience working alongside a trading or sourcing function. You understand how logistics and procurement interact and can partner effectively across those lines.
- Hands-on experience selecting and implementing logistics technology - TMS, FMS, or equivalent.
- A self-directed communicator who thrives without a playbook.
Strong differentiators (preferred)
- Experience within or alongside a commodity trading operation
- Bulk terminal or vessel coordination experience
- Asia-Pacific trade lane experience, Vietnam specifically
- USDA export compliance or phytosanitary documentation experience
WHAT YOU'LL GET
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits
- 401(k) with matching
- Paid time off
- Life insurance
- Competitive pay and executive-level visibility from day one
- The autonomy to build a logistics function from scratch - systems, team, and processes
- Ground-floor role in a high-growth international trade business with multi-year contracts and long-term impact
