Position Overview
Quanta Services is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to support transportation, heavy-haul, rail, and project logistics operations in Buffalo, New York.
This role serves as the primary coordinator for outbound shipments of large industrial equipment, supporting transportation planning, carrier coordination, permitting, documentation, and shipment execution. The Logistics Coordinator will work closely with project managers, engineering, operations, carriers, crane providers, and logistics partners to ensure safe, compliant, and on-time delivery of project cargo throughout North America.
The ideal candidate brings experience in heavy-haul transportation, industrial shipping, project logistics, or rail operations and is comfortable working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate outbound transportation activities for large industrial equipment, including rail, heavy-haul, crane-supported, and legal-load shipments
- Serve as the primary logistics point of contact for project managers and internal stakeholders regarding shipment planning and execution
- Schedule carriers, coordinate permitting activities, and manage transportation providers to support safe and on-time deliveries
- Maintain and manage shipment schedules, transportation records, and logistics data within company systems
- Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams to verify shipment readiness and transportation requirements
- Prepare and distribute shipping documentation, permits, bills of lading, weight certificates, and other required transportation records
- Monitor railcar utilization, demurrage exposure, and transportation risks, communicating impacts to project stakeholders
- Support crane mobilization, heavy-haul planning, route coordination, and specialty transportation requirements
- Track shipment costs and support project billing, cost reconciliation, and operational reporting activities
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by helping develop and refine logistics procedures, work instructions, and transportation best practices
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering Technology, Business, or related field; equivalent experience considered
- 3-5 years of experience in project freight, heavy-haul logistics, industrial shipping, or transportation coordination
- Experience supporting oversize/overweight (OS/OW) transportation including permitting, route planning, and carrier coordination
- Working knowledge of rail transportation operations, railcar utilization, and specialty freight movements
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, shipping dimensions, center-of-gravity diagrams, and transportation documentation
- Experience utilizing transportation management systems (TMS), Excel, Smartsheet, or similar tools
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while supporting multiple stakeholders and projects simultaneously

Compensation: The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $65K - $80K. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, skills, and other job-related factors.
