Director of Technology
Full-Time | Based in Houston, TX with significant domestic & international travel

The Family Office seeks an experienced and service-oriented Director of Technology to oversee and continually enhance the technology ecosystem supporting family leadership, residences, properties, travel, and family office operations.
This role is responsible for delivering a seamless, secure, and highly personalized technology experience across all environments. The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with exceptional judgment, discretion, and a hospitality-driven service mindset. Beyond managing systems, this individual will anticipate needs, solve problems proactively, and ensure technology operates reliably and unobtrusively.
Reporting to the Head of Family Office, the Director of Technology will lead technology strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, residential systems, vendor relationships, and support services while building a best-in-class technology function aligned with the evolving needs of the family.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Leadership & Service
- Serve as the trusted technology advisor to family leadership and family office stakeholders.
- Lead all day-to-day technology support across residences, offices, properties, and travel environments.
- Develop and maintain a high-touch service model focused on responsiveness, reliability, and discretion.
- Build trusted relationships through professionalism, communication, and exceptional service.
Residential Technology & Infrastructure
- Oversee networks, cybersecurity, mobile devices, AV systems, conferencing platforms, smart home technologies, and integrated automation systems.
- Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of technology infrastructure across all locations.
- Coordinate technology support for residences, travel, events, and temporary work environments.
- Manage relationships with vendors, integrators, and external service providers.
Strategy, Security & Innovation
- Develop and execute the long-term technology roadmap for the Family Office.
- Evaluate emerging technologies that enhance efficiency, connectivity, convenience, and security.
- Maintain rigorous cybersecurity, privacy, and data protection standards.
- Establish technology policies, documentation, inventory management, and operational procedures.
Team & Vendor Management
- Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing technology team.
- Oversee technology budgets, procurement, project management, and lifecycle planning.
- Foster a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless technology delivery.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a polished technology leader with experience supporting private principals, family offices, luxury residences, executive environments, or other high-service settings. They understand that success is measured not only by technical expertise, but by trust, discretion, adaptability, and the ability to create an exceptional experience behind the scenes.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of technology leadership, infrastructure, or IT operations experience.
- Deep expertise across networking, cybersecurity, AV systems, smart home technologies, mobile platforms, and residential technology environments.
- Experience supporting family offices, private residences, executive environments, or similarly high-touch operations preferred.
- Proven ability to lead teams, vendors, projects, and complex technology ecosystems.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High emotional intelligence, professionalism, and discretion.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally.
This position requires significant flexibility and availability, including frequent domestic and international travel in support of family leadership, residences, properties, and family office operations. Travel may exceed 50–75% at times depending on operational needs and schedules.
