Job Overview:
To manage project materials for Strike by planning, sourcing, expediting, and coordinating receipt/issuance of materials in support of project execution. This role ensures material availability, cost control, inventory accuracy, and supplier performance while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and client requirements.
Primary Job Function:
- Lead project materials planning to support project schedules and work packs; translate scope and drawings into purchase strategies and long-lead plans.
- Manage sourcing, supplier selection, and purchasing activities; negotiate pricing and commercial terms within delegated authority and in accordance with company policies.
- Oversee expediting, logistics, and delivery performance to ensure materials arrive on time and meet specification; communicate risks and recovery actions to stakeholders.
- Coordinate receiving, inspection, storage, and issue-to-project processes with field teams; ensure accurate documentation and traceability from receipt through consumption.
- Develop and publish materials status and expediting reports, KPIs, and dashboards; provide clear visibility to operations, project teams, and customers.
- Resolve invoice, receiving, and quality issues by coordinating with suppliers, accounting, and internal stakeholders; drive timely closeout of discrepancies and claims.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements, safety and quality standards, and applicable commercial laws and support internal/external audits.
- Coordinate stakeholders (engineering, construction, operations, vendors, etc.) to remove material roadblocks, drive on-time delivery, and continuously improve project materials processes.
Experience:
- 5+ years of supply chain/materials experience supporting capital projects (e.g., midstream oil and gas, pipeline, or industrial construction) preferred.
- Demonstrated success managing purchasing, logistics/expediting, and inventory control to support multiple workstreams and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of commercial terms and, supplier negotiations, and contract/compliance requirements.
- Experience with ERP/materials systems and data governance for item masters and Approved Materials Lists (AML).
- Strong analytical and reporting capability, including KPI development and stakeholder communication on material risk, cost, and schedule impacts.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- CPIM, CSCP, CPSM, or related certification is a plus.
Competencies:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and materials/ERP systems; ability to analyze data and communicate insights.
- Strong knowledge of purchasing, inventory management, logistics, and materials controls within an operations and/or project environment.
- Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and implementing procurement and materials process improvements that reduce cost and improve service levels.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute with minimal supervision; comfortable operating in an ambiguous environment and defining scope proactively.
- Ability to compile, review, and reconcile data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance; strong attention to detail and documentation discipline.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, procedures, and correspondence; effective communication with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and drive outcomes without formal authority.
- Knowledge of engineering/material specifications and midstream terminology, suppliers, and material requirements preferred.
