Overview
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Senior Project Manager to lead the coordination and execution of various construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the construction industry, particularly in the construction of educational facilities (public works), including extensive experience with DSA and public works governing agencies. Knowledge and experience in project scheduling and construction management software is a plus. This role requires a strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and techniques, coupled with strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention for detail.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of construction projects, including project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution.
- Work closely with the client, as an extension of their staff. Collaborate with architects, engineers, owners/public entities, state agencies and other stakeholders to ensure projects meet specifications and are completed on time and within budget.
- Manage project timelines, milestones, and budgets using tools like Primavera, Procore and Bluebeam.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, resource allocation plans, and performance reports.
- Stationed onsite, conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, ensure compliance with safety regulations and uphold project standards.
- Review and approve construction estimates, quotes and applications for payment.
- Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of projects.
- Develop and maintain project schematics and blueprints through Bluebeam.
- Conduct regular construction progress meetings.
- Provide project status updates to stakeholders and ensure that all parties are informed of project progress.
- Manage and resolve project conflicts and issues as they arise.
- Ensure that all projects are completed in accordance with contractual requirements and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of project activities, including project schedules, budgets, and progress reports.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelors degree in engineering, construction management or architecture from a reputable university
- 7+ years of experience in construction management or architectural services serving the public sector
- 5+ years of experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) and managing educational projects in California
- 5+ years of experience managing multiple public construction projects with over $10M construction value.
- Proven experience with project coordination, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques.
- Strong knowledge of State of California approved alternate delivery methods.
- Documentation management and ability to use project management software; Procore, Bluebeam Revu and familiarity with P6 CPM Scheduling is an advantage
- Excellent communication, team-management and leadership skills.
- Ability to read plans and understanding technical specifications
- Experience with construction estimating and contract management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of construction site operations and safety regulations is essential; familiarity and knowledge of Cal-OSHA safety regulations
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or a related field, preferred
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification
- Procore certification
- OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 Certification
