Job Description -
The Programme Manager is responsible for coordinating and delivering a portfolio of related digital projects and workstreams across the BD Digital Center of Excellence. Working across multiple functions and business areas — including Marketing, Supply Chain, IT, Finance, HR, Quality, and Commercial organisations — this role drives programme delivery from initiation through closure, ensuring progress against scope, schedule, and budget while managing risks, stakeholders, and change in a complex, matrixed global environment.
Programme Planning & Execution
• Plan, coordinate, and track delivery of multiple concurrent digital workstreams and projects from initiation through closure.
• Develop and maintain programme plans, schedules, and milestone trackers across interdependent workstreams.
• Ensure alignment of programme objectives with business priorities and stakeholder expectations.
• Manage dependencies between workstreams and flag conflicts or sequencing issues early.
Stakeholder & Communication Management
• Engage and manage cross-functional stakeholders to drive alignment, progress, and issue resolution.
• Communicate programme status, risks, and dependencies clearly through structured updates and reporting.
• Prepare and present programme governance materials, including status reports, steering committee packs, and leadership briefings.
• Facilitate programme governance forums, decision-making, and escalation when required.
Risk, Change & Governance
• Identify, assess, and manage programme risks and issues, driving mitigation plans as needed.
• Manage scope changes through established change control and governance processes.
• Track and report programme performance against timeline, budget, and deliverables.
• Maintain clear RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) and ensure timely resolution.
Ways of Working & Tools
• Apply standard programme and project management methodologies as appropriate — Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, or Lean/Six Sigma.
• Utilise programme and project management tools (e.g. Asana, Monday.com, or equivalent) to support planning, tracking, and reporting.
• Contribute to a culture of structured delivery and continuous improvement within the Digital CoE.
Knowledge, Skills & Capabilities
• Solid understanding of programme and project management methodologies and lifecycle processes (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, Lean/Six Sigma).
• Good organisational, planning, scheduling, and time-management skills with an ability to juggle competing priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to manage risk, change, and governance in cross-functional environments.
• Clear, confident communicator — able to tailor updates and materials for different audiences including senior stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in a matrixed global organisation with ambiguity and changing priorities.
• Working knowledge of organisational change management practices (preferred).
Education & Experience
• Proven experience managing concurrent projects or workstreams across cross-functional teams.
• Experience delivering programmes in Digital, Commercial, Marketing, or IT environments preferred.
• Familiarity with digital transformation or technology-led change programmes is an advantage.
• Professional project or programme management certification (PMP, Agile, PRINCE2, MSP, or equivalent) preferred.
What Success Looks Like
• Workstreams consistently delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and high stakeholder confidence.
• Proactive identification and resolution of risks and issues before they escalate.
• Clear, disciplined programme governance and transparent reporting to leadership.
- • The Digital CoE operates more efficiently and with greater visibility as a result of your contribution.
