Who You Are:
Michael Kors is looking for an experienced, business savvy, opportunistic and product-focused Associate Buyer to take our growing Men’s Outlet business to the next level. As an Associate Buyer, you will partner with management, stores, and cross-functional partners to identify opportunities, develop, and execute strategies to build strong assortments that will achieve financial objectives of the division. This person will be responsible for managing the Men’s Outlet product assortment, while assisting the Senior Buyer, and managing the lifecycle of the product within our stores.
What You’ll Do:
- Partner with Senior Buyer on buying and merchandising strategies that align with financial goals for the division and company and drive the business forward in sales and profitability.
- Partner with Senior Buyer to execute the buy process from concept to completion, including robust line planning.
- Recommend timely markdowns/promotions on goods and reorders on best sellers. Share insight based on reviewing analysis to strategically grow and impact the business.
- Work closely with planning and allocations to execute merchandising strategy on a by-door basis.
- Work with Allocations team and store management to ensure assortments by door are maximized. React to business needs by managing warehouse inventory and working with allocation teams to get merchandise out to stores.
- Generate weekly selling reports and business analysis to track selling, identify key trends, maximize opportunities, and minimize liabilities to achieve continued growth and profitability of the Men’s Outlet business.
- Responsible for maintaining assortment sheets, store transfers, processing markdowns, PO entry and reconciling on orders.
- Responsible for execution of product assortment grids and sharing buy information with cross-functional teams.
- Communicate and partner with stores domestically to manage client requests and ensure proper execution of all merchandising strategies.
- Run analysis and prepare selling hindsight to identify opportunities in the assortment. Create boards when necessary.
- Responsible for driving seasonal strategies, putting together seasonal buys, pricing, and promotions.
- Attend and actively participate in market appointments. Responsible for entering all market orders.
- Partner and manage communication with multiple vendors through clear and concise communication.
- Foster and leverage cross-functional relationships to create opportunities for the business – specifically partnering with Digital, Design, Marketing, Visual Merchandising, and Global Merchandising.
- React to business needs by managing warehouse inventory and allocating to stores.
You’ll Need to Have:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3+ years of experience in retail buying or merchandising
- Experience managing a business of significant volume & option count
- Strong product development experience
- Advanced Excel Skills; Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
- Computer Literacy – Strong Excel & Microsoft Skills (Word, Powerpoint, SharePoint, OneDrive)
- Ability to work in NYC office 3 days a week
- Ability to thrive in entrepreneurial environment
