The Town of Marana is seeking an Engineering Aide or Engineering Specialist to work in the Development Services Department. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in providing technical support for engineering activities through plan review against established codes, observation, and inspection of construction activities and creation of maps, drawings and reports as needed.

ENGINEERING AIDE
Expected Hiring Range: $19.12 - $23.42 per hour
- Placement within the expected hiring range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget.
Salary Range: $19.12 - $ 27.73 per hour
ENGINEERING SPECIALIST
Expected Hiring Range: $24.31 - $ 29.78 per hour
- Placement within the expected hiring range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget.
Salary Range: $24.31 - $35.25 per hour
ENGINEERING AIDE
- Reviews improvement plans for conformance with the adopted town standards and codes.
- Performs field inspections and observations of civil infrastructure improvements for conformance with the approved plans
- Reviews and process permits for approved plans.
- Investigates residents’ concerns with active and completed projects.
ENGINEERING SPECIALIST
- Reviews engineering plans and related technical documents for compliance with local, regional, state and federal standards, specifications, and details.
- Observes civil construction sites; processes project permits and closeouts; and calculate permit fees.
- Assist in the review of floodplain use permits for compliance with Town Standards; provides floodplain designation to homeowners and real estate professionals; Coordinates with FEMA on the Community Rating System; provides community outreach for the Floodplain administration program.
- Investigate residents’ concerns with active and completed projects.
- Communicates effectively with the public, developers, engineers, contractors, internal and external stakeholders.
- Reviews and accepts bonding and assurance information; and prepares resolutions for Mayor and Council acceptance of publicly maintained projects.ENGINEERING AIDE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED equivalency plus six months of additional education or training
- Over one year of experience in engineering, development services, or a closely related field
- A valid Arizona Driver License
- Must complete both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.
Engineering Specialist Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or directly related field
- Over three years’ experience in engineering, development services, or a directly related field
- A valid Arizona Driver License
- Must complete both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check
- Must complete a pre-employment physical including an audiogram and pass a 50-pound lift test.
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Experience in engineering and/or development services
- Experience with permitting software
- Experience with Bluebeam Revu
