Position: Fulfillment Operations Manager
Overview
The Fulfillment Operations Manager (OM) at Avara is a senior, hands-on leader responsible for overseeing multiple core warehouse departments, with primary ownership of ICQA (Inventory Control & Quality Assurance), Receiving, and Retail Store Fulfillment readiness.
This role is heavily focused on inventory accuracy, inbound execution, system integrity, and ensuring product availability for both eCommerce and retail locations. The OM will lead the processes that guarantee inventory accuracy inside the distribution center while also ensuring retail store shipments are on-time, complete, and operationally scalable as new stores launch.
The ideal candidate is operationally rigorous, detail-oriented, and experienced managing inventory control and inbound functions in a high‑volume distribution environment.
Key Responsibilities
Department Leadership: ICQA & Receiving
- Directly oversee ICQA and Receiving departments, including supervisors and hourly associates.
- Ensure accurate and timely receiving of inbound product, including high-SKU-density containers.
- Drive strict adherence to receiving, put-away, and location management processes.
- Establish and maintain disciplined inventory control standards across the facility.
- Own cycle counting programs, discrepancy investigations, and root-cause resolution.
- Identify systemic breakdowns in inventory accuracy and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Maintain and improve overall inventory accuracy metrics across the fulfillment center.
- Reduce shrink through process enforcement, auditing, and transaction discipline.
- Partner cross-functionally (Merchandising, Planning, Finance) to ensure clean inventory data and reliable availability.
- Ensure WMS integrity through proper transaction management and inventory audits.
Retail Store Fulfillment & Launch Readiness
- Ensure store shipments are accurate, complete, and shipped on time to support retail operations.
- Establish clear operational processes for allocating, picking, packing, and shipping inventory to retail locations.
- Partner with Retail and Merchandising teams to ensure store inventory requirements are met.
- Build and scale processes that support multiple store openings and launch timelines.
- Develop operational playbooks for store launch inventory preparation, staging, and shipment execution.
- Monitor shipment accuracy and completeness for store replenishment and new store launches.
Process Improvement & Reporting
- Analyze inbound, inventory, and retail shipment performance metrics to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
- Lead process improvements focused on inventory accuracy, inbound efficiency, and operational scalability.
- Leverage WMS reporting to identify transaction errors and operational breakdown points.
- Prepare and present performance updates related to inventory health, receiving performance, and store shipment accuracy.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure receiving and ICQA operations comply with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Maintain organized, audit-ready inventory storage areas.
- Promote a culture of discipline, accountability, and process adherence.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5–7 years of experience in warehouse or distribution center operations.
- Minimum 3 years of leadership experience managing inventory control, ICQA, receiving, or inbound operations.
- Experience supporting retail store inventory fulfillment or store launch logistics preferred.
- Demonstrated success improving inventory accuracy and inbound process reliability.
- Strong working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Experience leading multiple operational departments simultaneously.
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to operational detail.
