The Opportunity
The Area Vice President is responsible for managing the entire operation of a business area, which includes sales, production, customer service, transportation and logistics, safety, human resources, financial, environmental, quality, maintenance, engineering and community relations. This role is responsible for creating and executing a strategic plan that outlines how the area will meet all key business objectives. This role is also directly responsible for providing leadership, mentoring, coaching and direction to direct reports, including establishing goals and being accountable for achieving those goals.

How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock
- Own P&L performance for the assigned Area, partnering with the Senior Vice President, Region to deliver budget and forecast commitments
- Lead multi-site operations across sales, production, customer service, logistics, safety, quality, maintenance, engineering, HR, and finance to achieve service, cost, and performance goals
- Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement through KPI management, analytics, and disciplined execution
- Set strategy and operating plans for the Area\u2014aligning people, resources, and capital to short- and long-range objectives
- Build, develop, and hold leaders accountable; recruit and retain top talent and create a high-performance culture across all sites
- Champion customer and commercial excellence\u2014ensuring reliable delivery, proactive issue resolution, and profitable growth across the Area
- Partner across Business Units and corporate teams to execute regional priorities, share best practices, and support enterprise initiatives
- Lead a strong safety and compliance culture (SAFE), ensuring adherence to corporate standards and all state and federal regulations
- Lead labor relations in union environments, including partnering with site leaders on day-to-day engagement and escalation support as needed
- Ensure stewardship of assets and capital planning to sustain reliability, quality, and long-term performance

What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA or similar) preferred
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing/industrial operations, including multi-site responsibility
- Proven P&L ownership and track record delivering safety, quality, service, and cost results across complex operations
- Demonstrated ability to set strategy, lead change, and drive continuous improvement using KPI discipline and analytics
- Executive-level leadership builds strong teams, develops successors, and creates an accountable, engaged culture
- Strong financial acumen (budgeting, forecasting, capital planning) and ability to communicate performance to senior leaders
- Experience leading in a union environment, including labor relations, engagement, and issue resolution
- Customer-focused and commercially minded; partners with sales teams to grow profitable business and strengthen key accounts
- Ability to influence across Business Units and corporate functions; strong executive presence and stakeholder management
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate clearly with executives, plant teams, customers, and union leadership
