About the Role
This job is responsible for management and oversight of all stages of capital project development and execution for major projects assigned by the V.P., Capital Projects (New Generation), for the generation fleet including planning, design, permitting, construction and start-up.
Responsibilities include delivering the projects safely, while meeting schedule and budget commitments, and managing/overseeing the deliverables necessary to progress a project through the Stage Gate Process.
Responsibilities
- Manages and oversees the project team(s), including personnel assigned to the project(s) from other functions within Capital Projects (New Generation), personnel assigned from other support groups in the corporation, and contract personnel retained for the projects.
- Working in collaboration with Supply Chain, provides management for the procurement, negotiation and administration of engineering, procurement, construction and equipment supply agreements necessary to execute the projects.
- Works closely with the Power Generation leadership to ensure that projects meet their required performance through; Operations personnel review of design; effective planning for staffing and training of the staff; the provision of spare parts; and provision of any required long term maintenance agreements which will be negotiated in collaboration with Fossil Fleet Maintenance leadership.
- Works closely with the Regulatory functions to support the requirement of receiving the necessary certifications, including providing written and verbal testimony before the commissions.
- Works closely with Environmental to determine permitting requirements and obtain the necessary permits.
- Maintains a roster of contract personnel for executing construction and commissioning activities for major projects.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Engineering Discipline, Finance, Accounting, Construction Management or applicable course of study or equivalent work experience.
- 10 years plus power generation capital project development and management experience.
- Utility capital project experience essential.
- Ability to travel up to 75%.
