Summary
Responsible for the overall performance of local Distribution Center, including warehouse operations, OSHA, Safety and DOT regulations, logistics, inventory management, receiving, shipping, material handlers, drivers, promotional support, and transportation. The Manager will plan; organize staff, and direct related functions and activities within the DC.
This person is responsible for implementing a consistent culture & SOP’s within their organizations to drive continuous improvement. They will ensure goals are achieved regarding productivity, quality, inventory and cost. Must possess strong operations acumen, employee relations, customer service, as well as talent management and retention.
Primary Responsibilites
- Lead, train, coach and motivate team members
- Ensure a safe work environment that is consistent with company safety and health standards
- Resolve and report any accidents or unsafe conditions
- Maintain compliance with, and knowledge of, Federal Department of Transportation regulations and other safety standards
- Proactively monitor and manage inbound/outbound material
- Maintain fleet in a safe manner in accordance with company and governmental standards
- Minimize waste by ensuring driving routes are reviewed and analyzed regularly
- Schedule DC team members
- Facilitate communication within and amongst management, departments, headquarters, and team members
- Own and manage P&L for DC, ensure all costs are within budget, identify and implement cost savings opportunities
- Monitor all scheduled tasks to insure they are efficiently completed
- Provide training as needed to maintain an efficient and knowledgeable work force
- Administer general company policy and procedure
- Collect, analyze and report productivity data and manage inventory
- Liaison with and provide customer service to sales team and all other business units
- Manage DC inventory, including but not limited to performing regular cycle counts and monitoring physical inventory (FIFO)
- Provide department back-up, ancillary coverage, and leadership while maintaining managerial professionalism
- Research and develop new techniques and procedures to increase efficiency and safety in operations
- Recruit, select, on-board and train employees
- As needed, operate forklift, drive light to medium duty trucks, load samples including carrying boxes weighing up to 50 pounds
Salary Range
The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between
$92,000-$114,000
Individual base pay will be based on additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay is inclusive of other forms of compensation.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- 8+ years of management experience in all facets of inbound/outbound transportation, preferably in the building materials industry
- 2+ years of experience working with material handling systems
- Demonstrable experience and management of inventory and inventory controls systems
- Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma / Kaizen methodologies
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power PointAbility to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and inter-company memos/outside correspondence
- Bachelor's degree in business management, supply chain, operations management or related experience
Preferred
- Oracle ERP/Inventory control software.
- Strong analytical and communication skills with a proven ability to work within the framework of a team.
- Two to five years of inventory management, planning, analytical and/or reporting experience, in position with increasing responsibility.
- Have strong analytical and communication skill with proven ability to work within the framework of the Team.
- Understanding of financial statements and resulting cost implications.
- Knowledge of distribution systems to include order routing.
- Understanding of dispatch issues and procedures.
- A bachelor's degree.
- Lean methodologies and Six Sigma.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position may require extended work hours.
