Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Laboratory Technician / Engineer to support highway and heavy civil construction projects. This role is responsible for performing quality control testing on aggregates used in roadway construction, ensuring compliance with project specifications, DOT standards, and safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory and field testing of aggregates for highway construction in accordance with DOT, AASHTO, and ASTM standards
- Accurately document, record, and report test results and maintain complete QC records
- Ensure compliance with project quality control plans and specifications
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-functioning laboratory environment
- Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory testing equipment
- Follow all company, project, and OSHA safety policies and procedures
- Communicate test results and quality issues to project management and field personnel
- Assist with inspections, material sampling, and troubleshooting material-related issues
- Support continuous improvement of lab procedures, organization, and safety practices
Qualifications
- Experience in aggregate testing for highway or heavy civil construction
- Knowledge of AASHTO, ASTM, and state DOT testing procedures
- Familiarity with quality control documentation and reporting
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Commitment to workplace and laboratory safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant technical degree or certifications (e.g., NICET, ACI, state DOT certifications)
- Previous experience working under Davis-Bacon prevailing wage projects
Work Environment
- Combination of laboratory and field work
- May involve lifting testing equipment and materials
- Exposure to construction sites and varying weather conditions

- Pay Rate: Davis-Bacon Prevailing Wages, Labor Group 2 (based on applicable Wage Determination)
