Product Development Engineer (Plastics)

💰 Up to $60/hr | 1-Year Contract
⏳ Immediate Need
We are seeking a hands-on Product Development Engineer to support a fast-paced prototyping and product development center located in the Ravenswood area of Chicago.
This role is focused on refining and improving existing medical products — not concept design. You will take feedback from testing and prototyping and translate it into smart, compliant design modifications that move products closer to production.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Modify and improve existing plastic components based on test data
- Create and revise detailed engineering drawings
- Manage drawing revisions and documentation processes
- Ensure compliance with Design Control requirements
- Support regulated product development within an ISO 13485 environment
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams during reviews and design meetings
What We’re Looking For:
- 3+ years of product design experience (plastics strongly preferred)
- Medical device or regulated industry background
- Strong SolidWorks skills
- Deep understanding of engineering drawings and revision control
- Solid understanding of Design Control in product development
- Familiarity with ISO 13485 standards highly preferred
- Degree is a plus, but not required
Work Environment:
This role is based at a product development center on the north side of Chicago. Candidates should plan to work on-site full-time initially to ramp up and learn the products. There may be some hybrid flexibility once established, but flexibility to attend in-person meetings and design reviews is required.
