Our client, a professional sports league, is seeking a Project Manager to join its Product & Technology organization, supporting the Subscriber Lifecycle team. This role is embedded within a digital product team and is responsible for driving execution, coordination, and delivery across complex, cross-functional initiatives. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-moving environments, brings strong execution rigor, and is comfortable navigating shifting priorities while maintaining clarity and momentum. This is a full-time freelance role based in Los Angeles, CA, requiring at least four days per week in office. Pay rate: $60-65/hour.
Responsibilities:
Project Execution & Delivery Ownership
- Own day-to-day execution of team-level initiatives from kickoff through launch readiness, ensuring milestones, timelines, and dependencies remain on track.
- Proactively identify and surface risks, tradeoffs, and blockers, adjusting plans as needed to maintain delivery confidence.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineering, Design, Data, and external vendor teams to drive alignment and manage dependencies.
- Act as a trusted execution partner, bringing structure and forward progress when priorities shift.
Meeting Facilitation & Working Sessions
- Facilitate project meetings and working sessions to drive decisions, resolve risks, and move work forward.
- Ensure meetings are well-prepared, outcome-driven, and result in clear next steps and ownership.
Project Health, Reporting & Communication
- Maintain accurate tracking in Jira and provide clear status updates through Confluence.
- Communicate delivery health, risks, and upcoming milestones to Product and Program stakeholders in a timely and actionable manner.
Planning & Intake Support
- Coordinate project kickoffs to align teams on scope, responsibilities, and timelines.
- Partner with Product and Program Leads on solution intake, roadmap tracking, and capacity planning.
Process & Continuous Improvement
- Reinforce delivery processes and planning expectations while adapting execution approaches as context evolves.
- Refine execution rituals, templates, and reporting frameworks to improve clarity, efficiency, and overall team effectiveness.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of project or program management experience in digital product or technology environments.
- Experience working within commerce, subscription, or subscriber lifecycle ecosystems is a plus.
- Strong understanding of front-end and back-end software development and how systems are built, integrated, and delivered.
- Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and execution rigor.
- High emotional intelligence with strong relationship-building skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments and drive clarity.
- Confident facilitator who can guide teams toward decisions and outcomes.
- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a willingness to fill gaps as needed.
- Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) and familiarity with Figma and GitHub.
