The Position
RETIREMENT – PERS (Recruits in the Academy)
CalPERS 2.7% @ 55 (Classic Members) or CalPERS 2% @ 62 (New Members). The employee pays the full employee portion of the retirement contribution, and the City does not participate in Social Security.
SWORN OFFICERS
CalPERS 3% @ 50 formula (Classic); single highest year. CalPERS 2.7% @ 57 formula (New Members). The employee pays the full employee portion of the retirement contribution, and the City does not participate in Social Security.
All employees will contribute the equivalent of $85 per month to offset CalPERS Unfunded Accrued Liability costs. The employee contributions made pursuant to this Employee CalPERS Response Giveback Plan will be coordinated as a pre-tax contribution. Lastly, the employee contributions made pursuant to this Employee CalPERS Response Giveback Plan will be considered part of the employee contribution towards CalPERS retirement system costs.
MEDICAL INSURANCE
The City offers a cafeteria benefit allowance of $1,450 / month for use towards enrolling in any of the City offered health, dental, and vision plans. Any employee that wishes to cash out their cafeteria allowance shall receive 25% of the allowance as taxable income or deferred compensation.
DENTAL INSURANCE
Dental DPO and HMO Plans are available
VISION INSURANCE
City contribution is only for employee coverage. Dependents may be covered at employee's expense
LONG TERM DISABILITY & SHORT TERM DISABILITY
Benefits equal 60% of employee's base salary for qualified periods
LIFE INSURANCE
The City provides a life insurance policy in the amount of $100,000
SICK LEAVE
Accrued at 8 hours per month, with an unlimited accrual
VACATION
100 hours of annual vacation accrual, increasing up to 200 hours based on years of service

AA: $225 / year
BA: $375 / year
MA: $525 / year
Ph.D.: $675 / year

This position will require you to go through an extensive background investigation and polygraph examination. The background investigation will include but will not be limited to the following: a check of your criminal, credit, employment, and education history. In addition, your family, friends, supervisors (current and past), co-workers and neighbors will be interviewed.
