Overview

This position oversees all aspects of foundation work, from planning and coordinating crews to ensuring safety and quality standards are met. The supervisor will act as a bridge between site workers, project managers, and other stakeholders, ensuring that work proceeds smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with all relevant codes and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

· Project Planning and Coordination: Review blueprints, project plans, and specifications to determine the requirements and scope of each foundation job. Coordinate with project managers and site supervisors to schedule and allocate resources effectively.

· Supervision of Crews: Lead and manage a crew of concrete workers, laborers, and equipment operators. Assign daily tasks, monitor progress, and ensure proper techniques are used at every stage of the foundation process.

· Site Preparation: Oversee site preparation, including, setting forms, laying rebar, and ensuring all groundwork complies with project plans and local building codes.

· Material Management: Order necessary materials, track deliveries, and inspect materials for quality and compliance. Manage on-site inventory to avoid work stoppages due to material shortages.

· Concrete Placement and Finishing: Supervise the pouring, leveling, and finishing of concrete foundations. Ensure concrete is ordered per approved mix design, handling, placement, vibration, and curing of concrete to achieve the required strength and durability.

· Quality Control: Inspect all work for accuracy and quality. Address any deficiencies in formwork, reinforcement, or finished concrete. Ensure that all completed work meets project specifications.

· Safety Management: Implement and enforce safety protocols and regulations on the construction site. Conduct routine safety meetings and inspections, identify hazards, and take corrective action to prevent accidents and injuries.

· Problem Solving: Troubleshoot onsite issues, including delays, equipment malfunctions, or unforeseen site conditions. Develop and implement solutions to keep the project on track.

· Documentation and Reporting: experience Maintaining electronic daily logs of work performed, labor and material usage, and any incidents or delays. Prepare progress reports for upper management and project stakeholders.

· Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with clients, inspectors, subcontractors, and other parties, providing updates and addressing concerns promptly and professionally.

Required Skills and Competencies

· Construction Expertise: In-depth knowledge of concrete foundation construction, including site preparation, formwork, reinforcement, concrete placement, and finishing techniques.

· Leadership: Proven ability to supervise, motivate, and direct diverse crews in a dynamic environment. Strong leadership fosters cooperation, discipline, and a culture of safety.

· Technical Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and material specifications. Familiarity with surveying equipment and construction layout procedures.

· Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to inspecting work, ensuring dimensions, alignments, and finishes meet stringent tolerances.

· Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for conveying instructions, producing reports, and collaborating with various stakeholders.

· Problem-Solving: Resourceful and quick to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions on the job site.

· Time Management: Skilled in planning and prioritizing tasks to meet tight deadlines and project milestones.

· Safety Awareness: Thorough understanding of OSHA standards and construction site safety practices.

· Physical Stamina: Able to perform in physically demanding environments, including standing, bending, lifting, and working in various weather conditions.

· Adaptability: Comfortable adjusting schedules and work practices in response to project changes and unexpected challenges.

Education and Experience Requirements

· High school diploma or equivalent is required; technical or vocational training in construction management or a related field is highly advantageous.

· Minimum of 5 years’ experience in concrete or foundation construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.

· Relevant certifications, such as OSHA 30, ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician, or other construction safety or quality certifications, are preferred.

· Experience with commercial, and/or industrial concrete foundation projects is highly desirable.

· Spanish Speaking and ability to translate is desired.

Working Conditions

· Primarily outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including hot, cold, wet, or dusty environments.

· Standard workweek is typically 40-50 hours, with possible overtime during critical project phases.

· Some travel between job sites may be necessary.
