Description
The Boulder County Transportation Department is seeking a Temporary Engineering Autocad Design Technician to perform moderately complex paraprofessional and technical engineering duties.
Examples of Duties
This temporary position has an anticipated duration of six months and specific duties will include: utilizing AutoCad Land Development Desktop software to accomplish design drawings for road designs including but not limited to the following: plan views, profiles, cross sections, and details; providing AutoCad layer management; utilizing and managing topographic survey point data; creating three dimensional break lines and incorporating them into existing surfaces; creating and editing proposed road centerline alignments; performing additional duties utilizing AutoCad Civil 3D software (with guidance from other technicians) as needed; assisting as “rod person” for topographic surveys as needed; and performing related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Requires college level courses in AutoCad to include Land Development Desktop. AutoCad training certificates in Land Development Desktop may be substituted for college level classes (must be able to present certificates prior to job offer). Requires two years experience in preparing civil or traffic engineering road design utilizing AutoCad computerized civil engineering applications or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a working knowledge of the basic principles and tools utilized in civil engineering and engineering-related software. Requires skill in reading and interpreting engineering plans and specifications. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions. The ability to work effectively with other employees, contractors and the public is essential. Previous experience with Civil 3D software a plus.
