We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Transportation Safety Manager to oversee and enhance safety protocols within our transportation operations. This role is vital in ensuring compliance with federal and state safety regulations, fostering a culture of safety, and minimizing risks associated with transportation activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of DOT, OSHA & FMCSA, along with excellent report writing and root cause analysis skills. This position offers an opportunity to lead safety training and initiatives that promote a safe working environment.
Duties
- Develop, implement, and monitor transportation safety policies aligned with OSHA, DOT, FMCSA & company policies.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of transportation equipment and facilities to identify potential hazards.
- Lead accident investigations utilizing root cause analysis to determine underlying issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor drivers’ hours of service compliance.
- Manage fleet equipment maintenance records.
- Prepare detailed safety reports and documentation for internal use and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor driver MVR & qualification files, licensing and ensure up to date records.
- Manage claims process in collaboration with HR and legal teams to ensure proper handling and resolution.
- Stay current on industry best practices related to occupational health, environmental regulations, and transportation safety standards.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness through safety meetings, and employee engagement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in transportation safety management.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT & FMCSA rules & regulations.
- Excellent report writing skills with the ability to analyze data and prepare comprehensive safety documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis effectively following accidents, incidents or near-misses.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments to foster a proactive safety culture.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in compliance tracking and documentation management.
