We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Transportation Safety Manager to oversee and enhance safety protocols within our transportation operations. This role is vital in ensuring compliance with federal and state safety regulations, fostering a culture of safety, and minimizing risks associated with transportation activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of DOT, OSHA & FMCSA, along with excellent report writing and root cause analysis skills. This position offers an opportunity to lead safety training and initiatives that promote a safe working environment.

Duties

Develop, implement, and monitor transportation safety policies aligned with OSHA, DOT, FMCSA & company policies.
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of transportation equipment and facilities to identify potential hazards.
Lead accident investigations utilizing root cause analysis to determine underlying issues and recommend corrective actions.
Monitor drivers’ hours of service compliance.
Manage fleet equipment maintenance records.
Prepare detailed safety reports and documentation for internal use and regulatory compliance.
Monitor driver MVR & qualification files, licensing and ensure up to date records.
Manage claims process in collaboration with HR and legal teams to ensure proper handling and resolution.
Stay current on industry best practices related to occupational health, environmental regulations, and transportation safety standards.
Promote a culture of safety awareness through safety meetings, and employee engagement initiatives.

Qualifications

Proven experience in transportation safety management.
Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT & FMCSA rules & regulations.
Excellent report writing skills with the ability to analyze data and prepare comprehensive safety documentation.
Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis effectively following accidents, incidents or near-misses.
Ability to work collaboratively across departments to foster a proactive safety culture.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in compliance tracking and documentation management.
