Description
The Vice President of Information Technology (VP of IT) is responsible for leading and executing all information technology and audio-visual (AV) operations. This role ensures secure, reliable, and efficient technology services that support 24/7 gaming operations, live and simulcast racing, dining venues, entertainment spaces, and enterprise business functions while maintaining strict regulatory compliance.
The VP of IT oversees IT infrastructure, cybersecurity operations, enterprise applications, AV systems, and service delivery across the property. This role is focused on operational excellence, system uptime, risk mitigation, and execution of technology initiatives that enhance guest experience, operational integrity, and regulatory compliance.
Essential Job Functions/Duties
- Develop and execute IT and AV operational strategies that support casino gaming, racetrack operations, simulcast racing, dining venues, entertainment spaces, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide executive oversight of IT infrastructure, networks, enterprise systems, cybersecurity operations, AV platforms, and end-user support across the property.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of mission-critical systems including gaming systems, pari-mutuel and racetrack systems, simulcast and broadcast platforms, POS systems for dining outlets, CMS, HRIS, financial systems, and surveillance-adjacent technologies.
- Oversee audio-visual systems supporting racing operations, simulcast rooms, LED boards, scoreboards, public address systems, digital signage, dining and entertainment venues, live events, and corporate meeting spaces.
- Lead cybersecurity operations including threat monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, access controls, and execution of regulatory compliance requirements.
- Establish and enforce IT and AV policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data security, system integrity, and compliance with gaming and racing regulations.
- Oversee IT service delivery and help desk operations, ensuring timely resolution of incidents impacting the gaming floor, racetrack operations, dining outlets, and administrative functions.
- Manage IT and AV vendors, managed service providers, broadcast and technology partners, and contracts to ensure service quality, compliance, and cost effectiveness.
- Develop and manage IT and AV operating and capital budgets, ensuring responsible spending and alignment with business priorities.
- Lead disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and backup strategies for IT, AV, gaming, racing, and dining systems.
- Partner with operations, racing, food & beverage, finance, security, compliance, and executive leadership to identify and implement technology solutions that improve efficiency, integrity, and guest experience.
- Oversee system implementations, upgrades, and technology projects, ensuring minimal operational disruption and adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain a high-performing IT and AV leadership and technical team.
- Provide regular reporting to executive leadership on system performance, cybersecurity posture, AV reliability, risks, and operational metrics.
- Serve as the primary IT and AV operational liaison for regulators, auditors, racing authorities, and external partners as required.
- Stay current on technology trends impacting gaming, racetrack operations, dining systems, AV environments, and cybersecurity.
- Perform additional duties and strategic projects as assigned by executive leadership.
Job Specifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ten (10) or more years of progressive IT experience, including a minimum of five (5) years in senior IT leadership or management roles; bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong background in IT operations, infrastructure, systems administration, cybersecurity execution, and service delivery.
- Demonstrated experience supporting regulated, compliance-driven environments such as casinos, racetracks, hospitality/dining operations, or financial services.
- Working knowledge of gaming systems, pari-mutuel and racetrack platforms, simulcast/broadcast technologies, AV systems, POS systems for dining operations, CMS, HRIS, and financial systems.
- Experience managing AV environments including live racing, simulcast feeds, digital signage, scoreboards, public address systems, and large-format displays.
- Knowledge of regulatory and security standards including gaming control board requirements, PCI-DSS, NIST, and applicable data privacy regulations.
- Proven ability to manage vendors, contracts, budgets, and complex IT and AV operations.
- Strong operational leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate technical issues into business-impact terms.
- Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, 24/7 casino and racetrack environment.
- High ethical standards and commitment to data security, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state gaming license as required by jurisdiction.
- Must be available for executive on-call responsibilities.
