Building Inspector - Claims and Disaster Recovery

Summary: The Workforce Group, a LEMOINE company, is seeking Building Inspectors to support disaster recovery operations and claims review in New Mexico. In this critical field role, you will conduct on-site inspections of residential, commercial, and public structures to assess damage, verify risk reduction/mitigation projects, and ensure compliance with federal regulations, program policies, and building codes. You will play a key role in supporting communities following disaster events by providing accurate documentation and technical evaluations.

Location: Hermit Peak New Mexico and surrounding areas

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct physical inspections of residential, commercial, and public structures impacted by disasters to assess damages and verify completion of approved risk reduction or mitigation projects.
Work with claimants and/or claimant representatives to schedule site inspections.
Document inspection findings thoroughly, including descriptions of the site and visible damage, surrounding vegetation, photographs, coordinates, floodplain data, and other relevant information identified by Claims Reviewers or in the System of Record.
Utilize Xactimate software to develop accurate damage estimates, scope of work, and documentation to support claims determinations.
Upload completed site inspection packets into the System of Record within 48 hours of the site visit.
Maintain a site inspection tracker including claimant name, date(s) of contact, date of inspection, completed inspection date, and other pertinent information identified by the COR/TM.
Ensure inspections comply with applicable building codes, construction standards, federal regulations, and program guidance.
Identify potential risks or compliance issues and escalate as necessary to program leadership or technical SMEs.
Communicate inspection findings clearly to claimants, program teams, FEMA staff, and other stakeholders.
Utilize inspection software, mobile tools, GIS data, Xactimate, and claims management systems to document and track site inspection results.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience / Qualifications: A High school diploma or equivalent is required; technical certifications or construction-related degrees are highly preferred. Must hold active, unrestricted Construction and Building Inspector licenses in New Mexico. A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction inspection, building evaluation, or related technical roles is required. Experience using Xactimate for damage estimation and documentation is highly preferred. Experience supporting disaster recovery, mitigation, or federal emergency management programs is highly preferred.

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple inspections under tight deadlines is required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills to accurately document findings and communicate with claimants and program staff is required.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and escalate risks or compliance issues is required.
The ability to work independently in field conditions, travel to multiple inspection sites, and maintain professionalism is required.
Knowledge of construction practices, building codes, and risk mitigation strategies is required.
Must be physically capable of standing for long periods, bending, stooping, carrying up to 50 lbs, and climbing ladders.
Must have a personal vehicle and valid insurance to travel to inspection sites.
