Logistics Operations Coordinator – Ground Domestic Transportation (FTL, LTL, Drayage)

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Logistics Operations Coordinator with expertise in ground domestic transportation, including Full Truckload (FTL), Less Than Truckload (LTL), and Drayage operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and optimizing day-to-day transportation activities to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and timely delivery of goods across the U.S.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage all ground transportation activities, including FTL, LTL, and drayage shipments, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries.
- Serve as the main point of contact for carriers, warehouses, freight brokers, and internal teams to resolve issues and track shipments.
- Monitor transportation schedules, update shipment statuses, and proactively manage delays or disruptions.
- Negotiate freight rates with carriers and brokers while maintaining cost efficiency and service quality.
- Schedule pickups and deliveries, manage BOLs, shipping documentation, and ensure compliance with DOT and other transportation regulations.
- Maintain transportation records, carrier performance metrics, and shipment data in TMS or internal systems.
- Work cross-functionally with customer service, warehouse, and procurement teams to align on delivery requirements and service expectations.
- Oversee drayage coordination for port and rail shipments, ensuring compliance with terminal requirements and appointment scheduling.
- Support freight claim processes, discrepancy resolutions, and damage investigations.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and carrier consolidation strategies.
Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience in logistics or transportation coordination, with a focus on FTL, LTL, and drayage.
- Strong knowledge of domestic transportation networks, freight classes, and transportation documentation.
- Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and shipment tracking tools.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and drayage operations at major U.S. ports.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in 3PL, freight brokerage, or carrier dispatch environments.
- Knowledge of EDI and API integration for transportation visibility.
- Familiarity with intermodal and transloading operations a plus.
