Construction Material Inspector
Position Summary
Our client is seeking a hands-on Construction Material Inspector to support daily field operations and ensure all incoming materials meet project specifications, quality standards, and safety expectations. This is a boots-on-the-ground role—ideal for someone who enjoys being out in the field, staying proactive, and keeping projects on track through accurate inspections and documentation.
You’ll work closely with the site team, suppliers, and quality personnel to verify materials as they arrive, identify any issues early, and make sure the project never slows down because of defective or non-compliant components.
This position offers $60,000–$70,000 annually, overtime eligibility, and 100% employer-paid benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect inbound construction materials (structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical components) for compliance with project specifications.
- Document findings with photos, logs, reports, and traceable records.
- Communicate discrepancies immediately to site leadership, procurement, and QC teams.
- Verify certifications, mill reports, testing documents, and other material traceability information.
- Track material acceptance, rejections, and hold statuses.
- Support coordination with vendors, logistics teams, and site supervisors.
- Ensure materials are protected, stored, and staged correctly once accepted.
- Uphold safety, quality, and compliance standards at all times.
Required Qualifications
- 2–3 years of experience inspecting construction materials in an industrial, commercial, or heavy construction setting.
- Strong understanding of material specifications and quality standards.
- Ability to read drawings, specifications, and material submittals.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Comfortable working outdoors and in active construction environments.
Why This Role Matters
Material issues cause delays, cost overruns, and rework. This role is essential to keeping the project moving efficiently by catching discrepancies early, ensuring quality from day one, and supporting a safe, reliable build.
