A great UHY client is seeking a Director of PM & Operations to join their team. The ideal candidate will have strong project management experience, manufacturing operations experience, excellent communication and business acumen, and the ability to work with cross functional teams. The director will be responsible to develop and execute the company’s transformation initiatives and will oversee cross-functional teams to project manage transformation projects that could include site consolidations and closures. This position is also responsible for routine reporting to executive management and key stakeholders.
The Director of PM & Operations role is a hybrid position with 2-3 days in office. You MUST be able to travel 20-25% as needed to obtain objectives. This is a client direct hire position.
Director of PM & Operations Required:
- 10+ years of Project Manage and operational experience in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role involving plant consolidations, closures, restructuring, or large-scale operational transitions.
Director of PM & Operations Key Responsibilities:
- Collaboratively with the executive leadership team, develop and implement a comprehensive closure or relocation plan that addresses all operational, financial, and regulatory aspects of the plant shutdown, while minimizing disruptions to the company’s overall business strategy.
- Provide routine updates and reporting to the Senior Leadership team. Provide input on strategic decisions and make recommendations.
- Provide regular progress reports to senior management and key stakeholders, outlining milestones, risks, and corrective actions. Ensure clear communication with all senior executives, internal departments and external stakeholders throughout the process.
- Project management related to the plant closure – collaborate with cross functional teams to track deadlines and progress on the: shutdown of production lines, safe decommissioning of equipment, final inventory management, the sale, transfer, or disposal of plant assets and inventory.
- Collaborate and track the finance and legal teams to ensure accurate valuation and compliance with all contractual obligations.
- Track and report that the plant closure adheres to all safety regulations and environmental standards, including hazardous materials handling, equipment decontamination, and site remediation as needed.
- Collaborate with the Plant Manager and Plant Controller to Project Manage and report on plant closure budget, ensuring all expenditures related to decommissioning, employee severance, asset disposal, and site remediation remain within approved limits. Provide regular financial updates to senior leadership.
Director of PM & Operations Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role involving plant closures, restructuring, or large-scale operational transitions.
- Strong knowledge of project management principles, financial management, and regulatory compliance (including environmental and safety standards).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to rapidly changing circumstances.
