Prime Field Service is currently seeking a Heavy Industrial Project Manager (not IT) who has expertise in one of the following industries: Manufacturing, Mining, Power, Gear Box, or Hydro.

Prime Machine, Inc. was created in 1979 to provide emergency Industrial Equipment Repair and New Component Fabrication Services to a wide range of Customers statewide and beyond. Prime Field Service, established in 2004, supports our field service efforts and expands our ability to serve customers on-site. We currently provide Large and Small Machine Shop Services, Welding Fabrication, Millwright Field Services, Gearbox Repair, and State-of-the-Art Laser Inspection Services. Our major Customers are found in Mining, Power Generation, Aerospace & Defense, Cementation, and other critical Industries.
What does Prime Field Service Expect from our Project Managers?
- Customer Representation: Serve as the technical representative to the customer, building confidence that Prime Field Service fully understands and can meet their requirements.
- Sales Support & Assurance: Assist in closing sales by demonstrating a deep understanding of customer challenges and how Prime can resolve them.
- Proposal & Contract Management: Review requests for proposals and prepare complete documentation, including estimates, compliance checks, and negotiations on terms and conditions.
- Accurate Estimating & Planning: Develop routers that outline work methods, materials, procedures, and outside service requirements. Establish cost and schedule goals to guide project success.
- Communication & Clarification: Explain proposals clearly to customers, assist them in understanding scope and expectations, and provide regular status updates on won/lost proposals.
- Project Execution: Create job routers, secure authorizations, and manage projects from launch through completion. This includes coordinating with Area Managers and the Production Manager to align quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Problem Solving & Adaptability: Engage the team to quickly address and resolve project issues. Redefine solutions as conditions change and incorporate updates into work plans.
- Negotiation & Conflict Resolution: Negotiate extra work prices, resolve scheduling conflicts, and ensure project priorities are aligned with customer requirements.
- Final Delivery: Review completed routers, authorize shipment, and prepare accurate invoicing information.
- Quality Oversight: Serve on the Material Review Board to address any non-conformance issues.
- Customer Engagement: Build strong, lasting relationships by visiting customer sites, holding business development meetings, and promoting Prime Field Service’s broad capabilities.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Strong foundation in machining, welding, millwright, and mechanic trades.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing processes (machining, welding, or related industries such as Mining, Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Gearbox, or Hydro).
- Proven ability to work in a highly reactive, multi-project environment where priorities shift quickly.
- Committed to quality systems, continuous improvement, and safety.
- Skilled in customer relationships, negotiation, and communication, with the ability to listen and respond effectively.
- Solid computer skills, including estimating, router management, purchasing, and job tracking systems.
- Broad knowledge of the industries we support with equipment and processes, as well as geometric tolerance standards.
- Educational background in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Business with 7–10 years’ experience in cost accounting and manufacturing processes preferred.
