Position Summary:
Our client are seeking a skilled and dedicated Licensed Boiler Operator to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of high- and low-pressure steam boilers, hot water heating systems, and associated mechanical equipment. The operator will play a vital role in maintaining critical building infrastructure to support the preservation, comfort, and safety of the facility's environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, monitor, and maintain high-pressure steam and hot water boilers, chillers, pumps, air compressors, heat exchangers, and associated systems.
- Conduct regular inspections, adjustments, and preventive maintenance of all boiler room equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with applicable safety codes.
- Monitor building management systems (BMS) and respond to alarms or faults, escalating as necessary.
- Maintain detailed records of readings, maintenance activities, and inspections in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform repairs or coordinate with contractors and vendors as needed.
- Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to all environmental, health, and safety regulations and best practices.
- Collaborate with other facilities staff to support HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems as necessary.
- Respond to emergency calls and assist with disaster recovery procedures when required.
Qualifications:
- Valid State of California Licensed Boiler Operator certification (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience operating and maintaining boiler systems in a commercial, institutional, or industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of steam, hydronic, and mechanical systems, including combustion controls and water chemistry.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and building automation systems (BAS/BMS).
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification.
- Experience working in cultural, historical, or high-security facilities.
- Knowledge of energy conservation practices and sustainability initiatives.
