PQC is accepting applications for experience, civilian Emergency Medical Technicians (Paramedic) to serve within the Specialty Care Team at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia.
This role includes caring for critically ill and injured patients during ground transport and assisting in the Emergency Department when not on transport missions. This role requires expert clinical judgment, proficiency with advanced procedures and specialized equipment, and close collaboration with medical teams to ensure safe, continuous care across transport, emergency, and hospital settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced life support and critical care during inter-facility transports
- Perform patient assessments and deliver emergency treatment
- Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and oxygen
- Perform advanced procedures such as intubation, cardioversion, and Rapid Sequence Induction
- Monitor cardiac activity and respond to cardiac emergencies following AHA guidelines
- Operate and maintain ambulances and emergency vehicles (EVOC required)
- Document patient care clearly and accurately in electronic systems
- Assist with Trauma and Code Blue responses
- Support patient transfers and coordinate with receiving facilities
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and vehicle readiness
- Follow infection control and safety procedures
- Participate in training, drills, and quality improvement activities
- Provide education and training to staff as assigned
Requirements
- Possess and maintain certification as an NREMT, NRAEMT, NRP from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) or applicable state EMT certification.
- Ability to meet credentialing requirements
- Completion of state-approved Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Experience in critical care or emergency transport preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to remain calm in emergencies
- Ability to lift and move patients and equipment

Duty hours 24 per day, 7 days per week, including holidays.
Hourly Rate:
$37.00+ $5.09 benefits
