Job Overview
Cahaba Restoration LLC is seeking a reliable, hands-on Mitigation Technician to respond to water, fire, mold, and storm damage emergencies. You'll be part of a team that helps homeowners and businesses recover from disaster by stabilizing properties, removing damaged materials, and setting up drying equipment. This is a physically active, fast-paced role ideal for someone who works well under pressure and takes pride in helping people during stressful situations.
Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency water, fire, smoke, mold, and storm damage calls, including after-hours and on-call shifts
- Perform water extraction using pumps, vacuums, and extraction equipment
- Set up and monitor drying equipment (air movers, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers)
- Remove and dispose of non-salvageable materials (drywall, flooring, insulation)
- Perform demolition as needed for mitigation and repair work
- Clean, sanitize, and deodorize affected areas
- Take moisture readings and document drying progress daily
- Set up containment barriers for mold remediation or asbestos-adjacent work
- Operate and maintain trucks, trailers, and mitigation equipment
- Take before/after photos and complete accurate job documentation for insurance claims
- Communicate professionally and empathetically with customers on-site
- Follow all safety protocols, including PPE use and biohazard handling procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked service vehicle
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in physically demanding conditions (crawlspaces, attics, confined spaces)
- Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions
- Willingness to work on-call rotations, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in restoration, construction, or a related trade
- Experience with mitigation equipment (extractors, air movers, moisture meters)
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $21–$25/hour, starting
- Company vehicle/gas card provided
- On-call/emergency response pay differential
Schedule
- Full-time
- Rotating on-call schedule required (24/7 emergency response business)
