A. Stucki Company is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to lead transportation, freight management, carrier relationships, and logistics operations across our manufacturing network. This role is responsible for developing efficient transportation strategies, managing freight spend, optimizing carrier performance, and ensuring products are delivered safely, on time, and cost-effectively.
The Logistics Manager will partner closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Procurement, Finance, and Sales to improve logistics performance, reduce costs, and support continued business growth. Key Responsibilities
Transportation & Freight Management
- Manage domestic transportation operations across multiple manufacturing and distribution locations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers, brokers, and third-party logistics providers (3PLs).
- Coordinate carrier selection, negotiate transportation rates, and manage freight contracts.
- Monitor carrier performance and implement scorecards to ensure service, quality, and cost expectations are met.
- Manage transportation capacity and proactively resolve shipping disruptions.
Cost Management & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze freight spend and identify opportunities to reduce transportation costs through:
- Route optimization
- Shipment consolidation
- Mode selection
- Carrier optimization
- Process improvements
- Develop freight budgets and monitor transportation expenses.
- Review freight invoices for accuracy and compliance with negotiated rates.
- Create logistics reports and dashboards to monitor key performance metrics.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve efficiency while reducing costs.
Operations & Customer Support
- Partner with Operations, Production, Supply Chain, and Customer Service to improve shipment planning and on-time delivery performance.
- Reduce premium freight through improved scheduling and coordination.
- Support inventory movement across manufacturing facilities.
- Resolve transportation issues affecting customers while maintaining exceptional service levels.
- Collaborate across departments to improve overall supply chain performance.
Fleet & Carrier Oversight
- Support management of company fleet operations, including utilization, maintenance coordination, and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor fleet performance metrics such as utilization, fuel efficiency, maintenance costs, and equipment availability.
- Coordinate with Operations to optimize fleet scheduling and asset deployment.
- Help ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and transportation safety regulations.
Performance & Compliance
- Track and improve logistics KPIs including:
- Freight Spend
- On-Time Delivery (OTD)
- Carrier Performance
- Transportation Cost
- Claims Ratio
- Expedited Freight
- Cost per Shipment
- Transit Performance
- Assist with implementation and optimization of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and logistics reporting tools.
- Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence throughout the logistics function.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management.
- Experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
- Experience managing freight operations and carrier relationships.
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations, freight management, and logistics best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement transportation cost savings.
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP systems, and logistics reporting tools preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required; experience with Power BI or similar reporting platforms preferred.
