Position Overview
The Director is responsible for leading the day-to-day material operations team, ensuring accurate and timely material processing, overseeing inventory control, freight logistics, quality control, and warehouse/building operations. This role administers organizational logistics policies, drives continuous improvement in efficiency and cost, manages vendor relationships, and ensures compliance with applicable regulations and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Operations Management
• Oversee the operations team, providing daily directions on tasks and projects.
• Administer recurring and daily functions and processes necessary for business execution, identifying opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
• Develop and implement strategies that help the business meet its critical goals and objectives as efficiently as possible.
• Evaluate and recommend changes to policies and procedures.
• Ensure new employees are trained in a timely and effective manner.
Inventory Management
• Establish warehousing strategies and policies governing the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, equipment, and/or supplies.
• Ensure physical inventory counts are completed as required and verified against warehousing systems.
• Ensure compliance with regulations governing materials handling, storage, and distribution where applicable.
Logistics
• Administer organizational logistics policies and standards governing the movement of goods and supplies.
• Implement changes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Manage relationships with vendors.
• Ensure no delay or loss of material throughout the supply chain.
Quality Control (ASA/AFRA)
• Oversee inspection of products to ensure they meet quality & regulatory standards.
• Develop, implement, and assess processes and policies designed to inspect material.
• Monitor and evaluate current testing processes, recommending improvements as needed.
• Develop corrective action plans when quality issues arise.
• Enforce regulatory compliance and conduct visual/physical inspections of company products and materials.
• Maintain ASA/AFRA accreditation and complete all required audits.
Warehouse & Building Operations
• Keep the building fully operational and continually improve its functionality.
• Manage warehouse and building improvement projects from planning through completion.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures governing the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, equipment, and/or supplies.
• Track inventory through physical counts, verifying data against warehousing systems.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in business or other related discipline
• Proven experience in operations, warehouse, quality control and logistics management
• Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with aviation regulatory requirements related to materials handling, storage, and distribution.
Work Arrangement
• Based at inav’s Crystal Lake, Illinois office
