We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Vice President of Managed Freight Solutions to lead our freight management division, scale our operational and sales infrastructure, and drive best‑in‑class service across all transportation modes. This executive will oversee customer onboarding, carrier development, LTL and FTL strategy, TMS deployment, sales leadership, and operational performance while shaping the future of our 4PL‑driven service model.
The ideal candidate brings expert knowledge of domestic transportation, deep experience with TMS platforms and integration projects, and a proven track record of scaling a business through improved operational and sales processes. Additional value is placed on candidates with experience in 3PL/4PL solution design, warehousing pricing, project management, and international logistics (ocean and air).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Managed Freight Solutions division, setting strategy, driving growth, and ensuring world‑class service delivery.
- Oversee all LTL and FTL RFPs, rate negotiations, carrier evaluations, and prospect freight analyses.
- Partner closely with the Director of OTR Solutions to build carrier networks, source capacity, and strengthen national coverage.
- Guide shippers through the full lifecycle: prospect → onboarding → TMS deployment → first shipment → ongoing optimization and retention.
- Lead and mentor both the sales team and the operations team, ensuring alignment between revenue goals and service execution.
- Serve as a daily customer‑facing and carrier‑facing executive, representing the company with professionalism and industry expertise.
- Apply deep knowledge of the 4PL business model to design scalable, integrated freight solutions.
- Own TMS strategy, including platform selection, deployment, configuration, integrations, workflow design, and user adoption.
- Lead initiatives to scale the business, improving operational workflows, sales processes, onboarding efficiency, and cross‑department collaboration.
- Oversee warehousing pricing, project scoping, and integration of warehousing solutions into broader freight programs.
- Identify and implement process improvements across operations, sales, carrier management, and customer onboarding.
- Drive business growth by leveraging an established book of business or strong industry relationships (highly preferred).
Qualifications
- Expert knowledge of all domestic transportation modes (LTL, TL, partials, intermodal, expedited).
- Proven experience scaling a business and improving both operations and sales processes.
- Deep expertise with TMS platforms, including deployment, configuration, integrations, and workflow optimization.
- Strong negotiation skills with extensive experience running LTL and FTL RFPs.
- Demonstrated ability to onboard, manage, and retain shipper accounts from prospect phase through full implementation.
- Experience managing and developing both sales and operations teams.
- Deep understanding of the 4PL model and how to build integrated, multi‑modal solutions.
- Bonus: Experience with 3PL project design, warehousing pricing, warehousing solutions, and international freight (ocean and air).
- Ability to bring or build an established book of business is a significant plus.
