Summary
Owns end-to-end sourcing of Delivery Service Providers (DSPs) and independent driver-supply partners nationally, in support of last-mile delivery for major retail clients. Builds and maintains the vendor pipeline that keeps routes covered across markets — from first outreach through contracting and ongoing vendor health.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead national sourcing of DSPs, owner-operators, and driver-supply vendors to meet route and capacity demand across markets.
- Run outbound outreach campaigns to identify, qualify, and onboard new delivery partners.
- Manage initial contracting: negotiate rates and terms, collect compliance documentation (insurance, DOT/MC where applicable, W-9s), and coordinate with legal/finance on agreements.
- Serve as high-level vendor manager — track partner performance, resolve escalations, and manage relationships with key DSPs.
- Maintain a sourcing pipeline and capacity forecast; anticipate coverage gaps ahead of volume changes and peak seasons.
- Maintain and continuously update DSP sourcing CRM, ensuring accurate visibility into every partner’s stage from initial contact through onboarding.
- Partner with Operations and Dispatch to match supply to route demand market-by-market.
- Represent company at key industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to source new DSPs and driver-supply partners and build the company’s presence in the last-mile delivery market; must be available to travel as needed.
- Manage a small sourcing/vendor-management team as the function scales.
Qualifications
- 3+ years in vendor sourcing, carrier/DSP recruiting, logistics procurement, or last-mile operations.
- Proven track record building vendor pipelines and negotiating contracts.
- Understanding of last-mile/DSP models, driver-supply dynamics, and basic transportation compliance.
- Strong outreach, negotiation, and relationship-management skills; comfortable operating nationally across time zones and traveling to industry conferences and networking events.
- Strong working knowledge of AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) and Microsoft Office/Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams) to speed up outreach, pipeline tracking, and reporting.
- Familiarity with FMCSA broker-carrier compliance requirements (USDOT/MC authority, insurance documentation, W-9/1099 processing) and last-mile routing/TMS platforms is a plus.
